Today marked the end of my self-isolation - and as the cough has pretty much gone now, I drove across the Isle to Tesco, aiming to get there at about 6:30 (assuming the initial rush would have gone).
It had - and it was about 3 times busier than it would normally be at that time, perhaps 45 people in quite a large store. No problems getting hold of anything, although I did note the toilet roll aisle was empty still - goodness knows where people are squirreling the stuff away!
Beans and pasta were greatly reduced in number (not that I needed either), but the bread section was back to normal, including the "in store" baked stuff.
People were generally keeping their distance, too, although one guy moaned at the staff at the self-service checkout... it's a 3x2 layout and (sensibly) they'd closed the middle one of each row to preserve distance. The guy went to one (next to me) then berated the staff for having closed it.... dur, as if the signs and the big red "no entry" symbol on the display weren't enough clues!
Back at work (remotely) today, with the school seeing only a handful of staff in today. Happily for me, the Head has agreed that we can work from home for the foreseeable, aside from the odd "have to go in to fix" thing like a broken laptop.
The rota the school came up with, incidentally, goes out to late May! They also have cover arranged for Easter - schools will be open for vulnerable / key worker children, acting as a creche.
