Zilch from that first band which, as expected, fizzled before it got here (light blue on radar = nothing on the ground when the air is dry).

Let's see what the second band gives!

...and the answer is... loads of rain, not even a hint of sleetiness.

What utter horse manure.

(You would have thought that -9C at 850 would have been enough, but apparently not. It's not even close, either, with an air temperature of 4.1C and a dewpoint of 2.4C - the latter having risen as the rain's set in).

In other news 1051hpa!

I don't think people realize how crazy this is. It's like seeing 20C in January or snow at in June, that's how unusual this is.

There has never been HP of this strength outside of winter before. We are pushing up on the all time record at the end of March!

Just had that first band go through as Darren mentioned. Seemed to have a slight sleety mix in it, but looking so raw out there in that wind.

Here in Edinburgh, we had a pressure of 1048.4mb and rising at Edinburgh Gogarbank at 9am this morning.

It's a shame though, that this high pressure isn't on the other side of the UK from where it is and therefore, bringing us some real decent spring weather with a gentle wind from the south.

Had this been winter though, I'm sure that this would probably have been the case and in that scenario, this area of high pressure would probably not have been that position where it is just now, from where it is bringing in those cold winds from the N or NE with some snow showers in places.

It's just like the thing though, that this always seems to be be how it ends up.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Had some snow flurries here this morning. Of note this morning/last night has been the strength of gust at times. The funnelling effect off the Pennines increases the wind speeds locally.

1048mb here which is the highest I can remember yet the weather is horrible. Never seen such poor weather at 1040mb+ as this weekend has produced.

Once again it is the nasty unpleasant wind which is as bad as if it were 970mb. Just never lets up any more. If a high pressure cell of almost 1050mb can't get rid of it then what can?

Was even raining yesterday - a horrible nasty icy rain that did briefly give a snow flurry and the only day with snow/sleet this month which is a disgrace when combined with the entire absence of anything warm or pleasant. Had more snow during last years far warmer and sunnier March.

Nothing remotely cold either other than the rotten wind. Min of 1.6C and hasn't gone below freezing since the 20th. Awful spell of weather

Big question, will any showers develop in situ over the next hour or two as a direct result of solar heating (i.e not the lake effect)
