Had a large delivery last Saturday (booked 3 weeks before hand), largely to feed The Folks that are in isolation. Talking to the delivery guy, he said the problem was that everyone was ordering huge amounts of stuff so a van that would previously be able to deliver to say 20 houses could now barely deliver to half a dozen before returning to base. Maybe they need to limit order size ? It's a vicious circle. If you know the chances of getting another slot is sweet FA you will load a ton of stuff into the slot you have. If you are confident that you will get a service going forwards you only buy what you need for a shorter period.
I've given up with them now - there are never any slots available round here. I'll probably give Morrisons a go when it all normalises.
As a dedicated on-line grocery store I have to say they have had piss poor performance . Cancelling slots that already booked is unforgivable at the current time. people will be relying on them in a lot of cased when they are in isolation. People won't forget that. I think they will have a tough time when all this blows over when this is added to the fact they will no longer be able to distribute Waitrose stuff !
