Agree, traffic levels round here back to normal now and people out and about much more.

Tesco was packed yesterday, I had to queue even when I went back for my third visit at 9pm

Anecdotally, there is a lot of household mixing going on. People have had enough of lockdown

But seriously, if domestic cats are spreading it, we need to know and the govt needs to start testing them

Otherwise current lockdown measures are meaningless

Richie Rich is Chairing today's meeting, not Rabbers

Has Rabbers decided he's not up to the job?

Does this mean as a nation are we will be "picking our own" in future. Part of MM's "New World Order"?

Passport Office staff are going back to work next week after they were told 80% of people would get Covid-19 in the end and "we can't hide away from it forever"

Up to 2,000 staff would be asked to go back in, with 500 in offices at any one time.

Is there much demand for passports at the moment?  Mine is due for renewal later this year but I doubt I'll need it for a while.

Another gem of a typo late in yesterday's thread:

On the subject of the EU, I'm not averse to an extension to trade negotiations but the fact is we have left and will carry on foraging forward regardless.

Given the doom-laden economic expectancy of Brexit, and the almost certain reductions in regulatory protections, I think 'foraging forward' is a very apt description of how the UK will be rummaging through undergrowth trying to eek out a subsistence existence.

Another day, another thread = stay safe!

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-52221402 Money for charities will be welcome but I fear that given the amount of work that charities do in the care and medical field (think of the hospice movement) the £750m is going to leave many important causes still in major difficulties. That's not so much a criticism, more a worry that the Chancellor is running out of barrels to scrape.

Briefly on the subject of cats, one the films we've family-watched during this plague has been  Cats.

What a bizarre film.

This guy has it spot on IMO. He's specifically talking about theatres but it applies more widely. For example, I really can't see many people wanting to get on a jet airliner in the near future unless their travel is essential. So even after the lockdowns are eased there will continue to be huge problems.

London's theatres 'likely closed for months'
British theatres could need up to three months notice before they are able to reopen, the chair of the Arts Council has warned.

Speaking on the BBC's Today programme, Sir Nicholas Serota said some theatres could bounce back within a couple of weeks but others could take six times as long.

And even then, he warned: "It will take time to build back the audiences. I think people will not want to assemble in large numbers within a confined space”.
