Yes and a number of us said so at the time. It was the same with the Stereophonics and Cheltenham Festival. The latter resulted in the Jockey Club apparently giving out medical advice. In normal times it would be funny but sadly in this instance it could have cost lives.

I think this long Easter weekend is going to be an utter shambles when combined with the lovely weather, in terms of lockdown adherence.
There needs to be a strong statement put out later - an address to the nation by the PM would have been ideal but obviously not possible.

I can already picture the scenes we will be seeing of picnics and beach goers.

Latest update about Boris sounds more promising. Fingers crossed. He's still receiving oxygen treatment but is recovering.

In news that will surprise nobody, with over 100 deaths and rising, Liverpool is emerging as a CV19 hotspot.

The UEFA decision to force the club to host 3000+ Madrid fans as CV19 infections in Spain (especially in Madrid) were beginning to surge was and is a disgrace. And the city is now paying the price.

Scotland have reported 81 new deaths. That’s up 11 on yesterday.

Ominous for the UK as a whole. :(

Its farcical to issue daily death tolls

I don't think they should even bother at all as it just frightens people.

How many dead in India? Nobody knows

Edit: In fact the BBC has essentially reported this “Mr Johnson is said to be continuing with “standard oxygen treatment” and it appears he has not taken part in any drug trials for Covid-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.”

On a charities note, I see the London Marathon has been rescheduled for 4th Oct. Even if it does not take place then and is cancelled completely, you would hope hope that the money pledged by people will still be honoured for the good causes.

Any offers for the best new word to describe the MP's £10000 'expenses' payment? Corocushion? I'm sure someone can come up with something pithy.

Anyway, this has most exceptionally prompted an email to my MP, particularly as our daughter has been expected to work from home with no extra expenses offered.

JFF model predictions for today.

I am assuming a rate of increase in number of people tested at about 400 people per day. If the govt ramps up faster then I will change this.

Today's numbers assume about 13k people tested.

The prediction is 5253 people confirmed today.

The model projects we will drop below 5000 by the 11th

We will drop below 4000 by the 14th

We are due to drop below 1000 by the 23rd

As has been the case the peak remains on the 5th April. I am not expecting that figure to be exceeded, even short term fluctuations are less likely to get that high now.

The abuse issue is one very important issue but your comments on medical treatments and diagnosis stopping is both misleading and inaccurate. The “lockdown” has not stopped these things but some of the resources are being diverted to the immediate demand areas related to Covid-19.

Sometimes your nonsense is irritating, sometimes it is deliberately provocative and fake and in some cases actually harmful.

However, he had the scans yesterday at 11am in Kent and Canterbury Hospital where there are no Covid-19 wards. Clearly, the NHS is managing to organise itself to maintain other treatments. It is so staggeringly brilliant that it brought tears to my eyes.

It does irritate me when people criticise the NHS. No organisation is perfect and one as huge and complex as the NHS is bound to have some flaws but what is achieved day after day across the length and breadth of the country is remarkable.  When you are touched personally by the care and professionalism it can certainly be emotional.
