Is anybody here still doing the ZOE Covid-19 symptom app? I am and it is showing about a 7 fold drop in predicted cases from 2.1 million since April 1st to 350,000 now. It doesn't report areas where there is not enough data but I am not clear how many respondents they still have compared to the start?

Hopefully this'll reassure people that once you've recovrered, you've recovered. Next step: confirming how long immunity lasts, but that will take months if not years!

More on the good news from South Korea:

He said South Korea’s standard real-time Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests, designed to amplify the genetic materials of the virus so that even tiny quantities are detected, doesn’t reliably distinguish between remains of dead virus and infectious particles. He said lab tests on animals suggest that COVID-19 patients would maintain immunity for at least a year after their infections.

It is Cadwalladr who reeks! She has been in trouble so many times over her promulgation of batty conspiracy theories and she was actually taken to court by Aaron Banks for slander and libel.

It's the only logical way to do it if the virus hasn't been completely eradicated.

There is a reason that verifiable scientific findings usually take months or years to obtain and pass peer review. The process takes time and any anecdotal or even observed evidence based on a very short timescale should not be treated as anything more than a possible scenario.

Quite often scientists when asked will say “we just don’t know (yet)” but when people are desperate for answers that message tends to get lost.

Another pantomine villain to hate! It's all very tribal. I thought West Ham v Millwall was bad enough, but politics, takes no prisoners!

And before anyone is like 'herp derp, dominic cummings tried to influence SAGE'. No he didn't, the comment is tounge in cheek. Cummings asked scientists in SAGE why the lockdown shouldn't happen sooner. In response behavioural science was used to suggest fatigue if it happened too early.

No matter what he thought though, he should not have been present in those meetings in order not to bias them. There had never been such a precedent in the last 15 years and some SAGE members say tha Cummings was not a passive observer, but he actively intervened.

Why is this so difficult to understand? SAGE is supposed to provide independent scientific advice, Cummings is supposed to provide his own political advice and the PM is then supposed to make his own mind. Mixing up the two can bias/corrupt the whole process.
