I think Brian meant the poster Four, not the number four. I echo what you say about the antibody tests and there were some encouraging news yesterday.

Some encouraging signs from the govt too in terms of how they are handling the crisis.

It does seem that the government are getting things in gear now, with testing and PPE finally ramping up. It seems almost too coincidental that it's happening a few days after BoJo has returned!

So, you'd be happy for the next outbreak of foot and mouth to be left so herd immunity built up? No, you wouldn't...

Actually that is probably as good a of dealing with Foot and Mouth as a lot of un necessary culling in the last Neil Ferguson fiasco  It is highly contagious but cattle recover from Foot and Mouth . The main problem is there is seven strains of the virus and each needs separate immunity.

Just like in New York it would be surprising if some cities here aren't around 20% upwards already had it so getting there already.

The question is do we want to wreck the economy totally and follow that with the real peak about November or get on with it sooner.
Since under 50s have not a lot to fear from it there is not much sense paying them with borrowed money to sit at home.

As I alluded to yesterday- from Alex Wickham.

“We are handing out tests to everyone and their mum to try and get demand up,” one Tory says

There has been a “massive ramp up” in the final hours, Whitehall sources claim

But NHS Providers warn there is no clear sense of who is getting tested

—-

I fear this is the real reason confirmed rate percentages are falling - pointless tests being doled out to meet an arbitrary target.
Also as Beast mentioned, many are having to do these uncomfortable tests themselves which may not be accurate.

some are complete prat’s

A British police constable has spoken of the "horror, shock, and anger" he felt when he was spat at during the UK's coronavirus lockdown.

Nottinghamshire Police officer Anthony Brice was detaining Daniel Hagerty when the 32-year-old spat at him and his colleague.

PC Brice said he "would rather have been punched in the face".

The officer has since tested negative for Covid-19,

via sentence 6 months

This sentence sends a clear message that vile acts such as this will not be put up with in any shape or form and especially not now in the current climate

Another bad case  3 months sentence

Following his arrest he told officers he was infected with coronavirus and urinated in the back of the police van.

After being further arrested for criminal damage, he claimed to have swallowed drugs and was taken to hospital.
He spat at an officer while waiting to be seen by medics and was later charged with assaulting an emergency worker.

Hazell's actions caused a police officer to be out of work for two weeks, making an emergency services worker unavailable to the people of Surrey.

"I hope this sentence proves that assaults against emergency services workers will not be tolerated."

Several people have been prosecuted with assaulting emergency workers by deliberately coughing on them during the coronavirus outbreak.

and real bad thing

Last week, a suspected Covid-19 sufferer, 30-year-old Lance King, was jailed for a year after coughing in the face of two NHS hospital nurses in Staffordshire.

I'd think it was zero, not four! I don't think anybody on here has said we have reached herd immunity.

What I've said, and sincerely believe, is that the levels we will have - which, depending on reports, would be anywhere from 3% to 10%, will take the edge off any second surge, such as is to be expected if lockdown is lifted too quickly, or too completely.

It's a far cry from the 60 or 70% needed for full herd immunity to kick in, but every single person that recovers from Covid-19 is helping build immunity.

We do, IMO, need antibody tests ASAP. If it's shown someone has good levels of antibodies, that's someone who can get back to work as normal without fear of catching the disease. I would be back at the school quite happily if I knew I was immune, for example. It's the uncertainty that's problematic.

But, the media is apparently obsessed with testing targets, so you cannot blame the government for getting as many people tested as is humanly possible.

But there is only any point to it, if those confirmed positive are isolated and contact tracing is carried out.

It’s  not acceptable at anytime Geoff you know that especially at this present time so stop it
if one has even a learning or mental problem or both it would still be at least a cat 3 assault charge

Tomorrow, if 100,000 tests are performed, then another milestone is that 1 million tests will have been conducted in total. (In fact only slightly more than 98,000 are needed).
