1.50 METARS: Heathrow, Cambridge, Stansted all 33. Farnborough and Gatwick 32. No 34s yet.


 


Heathrow actually 33.8 at 2pm.

I'm less than 20 miles from Heathrow and it's pretty cloudy here. Thin cloud - there are clear shadows from the sun, but it's far from clear.

I have some of that here, but it's just cirrus so shouldn't affect temperature more than marginally unless it thickens into cirrostratus. Nothing mid level yet, and a few dots of cumulus which seem harmless enough. Any disruption in these conditions is likely to be mid based anyway - altocumulus, like yesterday.

Seems to have plateaued just below 32 C here. Highest I have seen at Blackbushe is 31.9 although the station doesn't seem to give a daily max.

Edit: Northolt is 34.1 so we have at least made an official 34C for the fourth day in a row.

No, it's already 3.05pm. 


2pm was 33.8C. The 1400Z (3pm) synops have three above 34C: Heathrow 34.6 and Northolt and St James's Park both 34.1.
