Looks like this could be the last really hot, potential record-breaking day. The BBC 5-day forecast has downgraded tomorrow's max. to 32c presumably due to all the anticipated thunderstorm activity and Thursday has gone down from 29c to 28c.

Whats the bet that today we beat it and actually reach 37C. Temperatures have that acceleration feel today.

Down here, we've had steady light rain for the past hour which is really suppressing the temperature. Such a relief!

26C in Northolt now
They don't here! Pretty grey and doesn't feel that hot. 24C.
Heathrow 25.8C at 9am which is a degree or so down on the 2003 record.
Tim - we have already got two date records this month - 7th and 8th.

A think a number would be pretty pissed off if going through this does not convert into a good storm. For some it’s already delivered on that front.
This is the hour-by-hour record for 10 Aug 2003: https://www.ogimet.com/cgi-bin/gsynres?lang=en&ind=03772&decoded=yes&ndays=2&ano=2003&mes=08&day=10&hora=18
You can edit the URL to get any date in the past 20 years or so.
Bear in mind the times are in UTC so eg a 9am reading will show as 0800.
Same even in here too temperatures seem to wait for sun to come out to shoot up. Troublesome this heatwave with clouds around doing nothing. 18.2C last night at 5am and now 20.5C as it stalled from no sun yet as it would had been around 25-26C and get to 31C or 32C in here, was 30.6C yesterday because clouds was late to clear, if early would had gone to 32C.
Heathrow now reporting a rounded 27.

Lydd airport is reporting a dewpoint of 22C with a temperature of 25C. What is the record UK dewpoint I wonder?
26c here now, steam coming off the ground from the early rain. DP is 23c with humidity of 53%
That’s sauna territory!
Expecting the sun to break out here within the next hour. With the rain showers earlier, it’s going to feel steamy.
I think to get all time records we need a brisk southerly wind, with warm air advection from the continent. Last 2 records, plus the event in late July and the one day wonder in 2015, all had accelerating S or SE winds ahead of a trough to the west, and a conveyor belt of really hot upper air. This week's stagnant hot airmass is enough to bring us mid 30s but not enough to get up into the high 30s.
Temp. up to 26.7*C here already, at 9.50am. A period of light rain around 7am totalling 1.5mm left everything wet, but only of nuisance value, and the ground in direct sun is nearly dry again. DP of 20.6*C is the highest that I've ever seen
We've managed to avoid all the showers here .
28s already for the usual suspects.
Just hit 30c @10:23
