CF out of the League Cup final. Shame. Arsenal have played well recently and deserve a bit of luck.

Cashley Cole, still seemingly a Gunner.

What a knob.

Villa , Wolves and Man u have all scored 4 so far giving them excellent wins

Wigan are yet to get a point of Man U home or away, guess a win was always on the cards for SAF's men

Speaking of Baconface, I see he's got his pre-emptive strike in about Rooney's elbowing of an opponent, trying to put pressure on the disciplinary panel (although as Clattenburg saw it and concluded that deliberately enbolowing an opponent in the face only warrants a free kick, I guess the disciplinary panel's hands would be tied anyway....not that they'd dare punish a Utd player in the first place)

WHU 2- Liverpool 0. Poor Liverpool performance, West Ham well worthy of their lead.

I need the Hammers to stay up, so a win today will help.

EDIT: Finishes 3-1. Liverpool midfield totally dominated by Hitzlsperger, Noble and Parker.

Demba Ba (he of dodgy knee) looking useful.

Good grief, even Carlton Cole scored.

Really pleased for Alex Mcleish !!  Alex was an excellent player and proved himself a good manager at Glasgow Rangers on a very limited budget. He has done well at Brum and has really earnt the silverware.

Didn't see much of the game today but from the half-time highlights Brum should have had a penalty and Arsenal would have been 2 down and down to 10 - if only the lino hadn't flagged offside when the player was clearly on!!

Meanwhile back in the Premiership, Citeh's draw and Liverpool's defeat slightly eases the pain of last Tuesday's forgetable defeat at Blackpool!!

I'll have to buy the Birmingham mail tomorrow, it may be worth something in 50 years time.

Wenger must have thought this was an easy trophy to win. But the long wait continues. If he doesnt win anything this year, questions will be asked ....

Quote from *****'I am the kiss of death' Morgan in his latest (timestamped 30 mins before the Carling Cup Final kicked-off) column for the Daily Wail.

''Now I see the manager's belief in both the team's and the fans' eyes. That belief must be backed up by trophies. And I think it will be this afternoon. We have, almost by default, found a goalkeeper who doesn't panic and do stupid things, a defence that looks increasingly solid, a midfield full of pace, power and dazzling technique, and a striker in Robin Van Persie who, when fit, is surely one of the most dangerous in world football.''

Probably one of the more predictable outcomes this week, bearing in mind the ref involved.

How long before Liverpool fans see Dalglish emperor in his new clothes?

Given the blind adoration for King Kenny, probably never.

Fact is, he took over a team whose tactics in the previous 18 months had been defence-orientated and opposing managers set their teams up accordingly. When Dalglish turned tactics on their head and started to be more attack-minded, it temporarily wrong-footed managers. Now they've come to know what to expect and when even shite teams like Wigan and West Ham can easily counter what Liverpool have to offer, it's time for Dalglish to work his plums off to formulate enough different tactical plans to deploy and change mid-match when needed. If he can, I'll forgive him for starting the rot at Liverpool in the late 80's.

However, I don't think he's a good enough manager; his repetoire's too limited. Instead, Liverpool will likely get a boost when Pikey Carroll comes in to add a different dimension, and this will probably paper over the cracks. If Liverpool had won against cellar-dwellars Wigan & West Ham and kept playing well and dominating games, I think they could have made a charge for 4th place, given the indifferent form of Chavski, Citeh and Spurs. Unlikely, but by no means impossible - and if they could have pulled it off, what an achievement! Especially if that Spanish Judas tosser missed out next season. As it is, those dropped 5 points have slammed the door in the face of any fairy tale - not just the not picking up the points, but the pathetic manner of how we played has halted any momentum we were starting to build and shown just how easy we are to play against.

I'd give Dalglish until mid-April before deciding whether to give him a contract going forwards. He needs to show he has the managerial ability to turn a major dip in form around and get the team playing a variety of tactics that keep opposition teams guessing.

Typical, the only time in life that you force yourself to support United and they let you down!!  Fair result though, albeit that the penalty can best be described as fortuitous.
