So are we just waiting for Cambridge?

Is there no chance of a lincolnshire site getting upgraded?

I thought the weather station was near huntingdon Road and not the farm near Impington/Histon only a mile or so difference anyway

Long wait to see what botanical gardens show in the morning.

Waddington 39.2 and Scampton 39.1C at 6pm. These seem almost underwhelming now but to still be above the old record at 6pm is pretty remarkable.

We need a serious upgrade to the way this works.

Why can't these weather stations transmit instantaneously like the ammeteur ones do?

Tetford and Denver are the only possible contenders I reckon, apart from CBG and Brogdale.

I saw a few people mention Waddington as a 40+ but had no confirmation yet.

Yay!

It was bound to be hotter than 32.9 somewhere near the border

Carlisle got up to 34.4 (nd might have been higher in-between the hours) and I know the weather station used there is at the ex-RAF facility in the north of the city only 5-6 miles from Gretna across a flat plain near sea-level as the crow flies, so I reckon Gretna would have recorded the same figure +-1C

https://goo.gl/maps/keeiD2uwCuiybA28

Carlisle used to belong to Scotland so we can just claim it directly too

It is only when the 18z SYNOP data comes in that we will know what today's actual maximum temperature was there and that applies elsewhere in the UK as well including those stations where the temperature has gone above 40°C.

This means that any record which has already been provisionally announced is likely to be officially declared with even higher values being confirmed for those records.

For here in Scotland, this means that we can't rule out the possibility of the new record actually being over 35°C once those actual maximum temperatures are known.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Your profession is irrelevant.

My main point is that people are entitled to hold different beliefs. I am not commenting regarding GW being a fact or fiction. What I am saying is that people can hold a different opinion to what is regarded as the consensus, and should NOT be belittled for doing so. I'm sick and tired of internet people cancelling debate that does not conform to their own belief, or labelling those who disagree as deniers or idiots.

I say again, I am personally not making any claim either for or against GW. I am merely lauding the right of an individual to have an opinion. It is up to the community to then discuss and debate opinions. Closing down said debate does nothing to further anyone's understanding.

I'll say no more on the matter.
