Well, off topic, but in sure you will all be thrilled to know, I'm disappearing for a while.

Sadly, I've had to cancel my holiday as I've been taken into hospital today after I collapsed yesterday evening.

Not sure what caused it, but I've been taken to hospital for some tests and not sure how long I'll be here for.

Feeling thoroughly under the weather right now in a lot of pain 🤒

I will hopefully be home soon but my holiday has gone for a burton.

Same to Moomin from me as well, hope it isn't anything too serious and you'll be back steering your ark before long.

Back to the models, after this bit of blip I don't think this Summer as a whole isn't done with us.

(On topic the 06z GFS and ensemble set seems to continue the general trend of the past day or two).

06z ensemble mean SLP now sits at around 1022hPa from 25th August to the end of the run on 31st. It continues the trend of the long term pressure being higher with each run. 1022 is remarkable for an ensemble mean that far out.

In between it’s straight up from today till the 22nd, then a little dip them up again.

GFS op a warm outlier in the 06z suite but not a high pressure outlier.

Yep, I comment on what the operational run shows. Simple as that really.

The fact it was the complete opposite yesterday shows how fickle these charts are.

The much-vaunted epic rains for this week have been downgraded as expected to the princely sum of 5mm in total in my area. Will barely make any difference.

This really is tragedy played as farce. Rain in summer is becoming like snow in winter – much promised, rarely delivered.

The gardens are dying and SE England is desperate for relief.

I see the GFS 12z op is suggesting that summer is not over, for some at least: https://www.wetterzentrale.de/maps/GFSOPUK12_270_2.png

I suspect it will be on the high side of the ensembles but not unsupported.

Thanks for all the good wishes guys.
I've been diagnosed as having Cauda Equina syndrome and am going to have lumbar decompression surgery in the morning.
It was quite a serious case, but thankfully, although incredibly painful, they've diagnosed it early so will hopefully be sorted by the surgery in the morning.
Will see you all on the other side.
Thanks again. X
