I remember the flooding in Central Australia about 50/60 years ago? when it was reported that the extent of the flooding in this desert area was 'incredible'.

Severe flooding somewhere in Australia is something that has been recorded regularly over the years but often, not at the same location.

The link below gives a good idea as to the intensity of these rainfall events -

Not particularly unusually but always good to see a good snowfall.
Winter snow storm in the Sierra Nevada's at the moment.
Mammoth Lakes has had 17 inches so far, snowfall should get heavier as the day goes on.

Would love to spend a season there, most of the time it is sunny but when a winter storm comes in you really know about it.

North West Canada is also even colder than usual at the moment. Nunavat usually gets the most extreme winter cold but at the moment it is being experienced in parts of the Yukon and North-West Territories

Currently -50.6C at Fort Selkirk, YT and -51.7C at Rabbit Kettle, NT (where I don't think much would be boiling right now, certainly not a rabbit).

Ridiculously fast drop in temperature in Cheyenne as the cold front from the winter storm comes through. From 6c to -16c in 30 minutes!! That's a drop of 22c!! In fact 18c of that drop occured in just 9 minutes!

Melbourne Tullamarine airport had a couple of very localised lively storms yesterday.

Looking at the data on the BOM website, they had 60mm yesterday, compared to 1.6mm in the city.

43mm fell in less than half an hour.
