Golden blue sky sunshine all morning but now a rapid infill of cirrocumulus is dampening it all out.

The Sun is still shining here in Edinburgh and with that, today is also our warmest day of this year so far with a temperature of 22.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and so today is also the first day of this year in which our temperature has exceeded 70°F.

A bit of a breeze from the ENE is keeping temperatures a couple of degrees down on yesterday - it's much more pleasant as a result, and feels refreshing. (No wind + strong sunshine is my second least favourite weather, after gales).

It's been sunny all day, but with milky high level cloud for much of the time... it's not done much to temper the strength of the sun.

Currently 16.9, dew 12.2, with a high so far of 18.1. Yesterday's high was 20.6 and the overnight low was 7.8.

A glorious sunny afternoon with a pleasant 24.1C on my north facing wall thermometer.
Feels wonderful after a nondescript spring (for most humans) weatherwise.
And great for the garden, with plants coming on in leaps and bounds.

Certainly a lot more cloud here today, albeit that is now dissipating.

Given that, surprised we still got up and over 24c today at 24.2c on the WLL, exactly the same as yesterday.

23 C here in Edinburgh today. Warmest day of the year so far. Spent the afternoon mingling with the tourists sitting outside a few bars on The Royal Mile. Sat in the warm sunny garden now 😎

Calm, clear and sunny, 10.1c and another promising day.

I can’t believe I missed the aurora borealis last night!  I was asleep but our son took some amazing photos of it over our house.  Gutted he didn’t wake me.  🙄

As for our current weather though (which this thread is all about after all), today started off on a bright and sunny note here in Edinburgh but there is now a lot of medium level cloud around with the Sun now hidden behind that.

We are being forecast to get the highest temperatures of this spell today but for that to happen, we really need to get rid of that cloud cover.

Too much cloud in the winter months all too often prevents us from getting a frost at that time of year and in the same manner, too much cloud at this time of year can also prevent the daytime temperatures from getting as high as they can be, and it would be a real shame if this was to scupper our chances of getting our highest temperatures today (that has probably already scuppered our chances of getting our sunniest day of the year so far today).

Meanwhile, the temperature here in Edinburgh is currently around 12°C, but is once again forecast to get into the low 20s°C.

Sunny again here and in South Edinburgh with a light SE breeze it's already reached 20 C. A note of caution though, the airport is 18 C with a NE wind off the Forth. Sea breezes could come into play here, limiting the heat and bringing in haar tonight...I hope not, I'm going to try and stay up tonight and watch the skies.

To my SW just now are some large CuNimbs growing ever taller. The sea breeze may come in to meet this area of cloud and with lift from the Pentlands we may see a heavy shower or two to the S and SW of Edinburgh

The north of Edinburgh is slightly cooler but Edinburgh Gogarbank has equalled its warmest day of the year so far with a temperature of 22.7°C. The temperatures are now dropping back a bit there, probably due to those sea breezes but since the official maximum temperature is always the same as or higher than the highest temperature to be recorded during the course of the day, it is very likely that today will still go down as our warmest day of this year so far.

As I write, the temperature here in Edinburgh is still around 22°C, and has climbed back up to 21°C even at the airport with only the botanic gardens being cooler than 20°C although the latest recorded temperature even there was 19.8°C.

Nice to see those of you in Northern England & Scotland getting some warmth.
Normally don't match or beat the southeast unless it's some long fetch south-westerly/foehn effect.

Here some cumulus has bubbled up and the temp has fallen to 21.4C

Sunny here, as it has been all day, albeit with milky high cloud - and the hills a couple of miles away are shrouded in mist. 15.9, dew 13.0, with today's high being 17.1 - pretty much bang-on the 91-20 average for the time of year.
