from the BBC talking to Dalglish. I think these are very relevant points. I'd add that I'm fed up with people taling about "cultural differences". If he'd been speaking in English and had used the word, then yes it would be cultural differences. But it's about LINGUISTIC differences.

"I would have thought that if you pronounced the word properly, you maybe understand it better," he [DALGLISH] said.

"If you get into asking a linguistic expert, which certainly I am not, they will tell you that the part of the country in Uruguay where he [Suarez] comes from, it is perfectly acceptable.

"His wife calls him that and I don't think he is offended by her."

With apologies to Saint, but I simply couldn't resist.

The attacking prowess of Stewart Downing. It's hard to find a forward pass in that lot.

Carroll may not be worth £35m but he is being marginalised, therefore it's not entirely his fault that he isn't scoring.

I didn't see the match last night, but from what I read, Kuyt had an absolute 'mare, which further negatively impacts on Carroll.

The way it has been dealt with in the media, and, by the looks of it, by the FA has dealt with it has been shoddy at best, (inadvertently?) racist at worst, in effect presenting Spanish and Latin Americans as racist, but with thet idea that racism is "acceptable" in "their" culture. I'm not sure why you aren't getting that this is what I am strongly critical of.

As for not appealing, possibly. Possibly (also) because, whether they have a case or not, they know they won't win - a backtrack now from the FA would be politically disastrous.

Howard Webb might as well put on a Man Utd shirt. The most obvious penalty you will ever see for Newcastle and he waves it away. Good game though, very even.

From BBC Live Text:

2120: GOALFLASH Everton 1-0 Bolton (Tim Howard)

Everton goal: For once, this is not a typo from me, Tim Howard really has netted for Everton. The goalkeeper swipes a clearance downfield from the edge of his own area, the wind-assisted ball sails down field, bounces a good 30 yards from goal but takes off, clearing Adam Bogdan and finding the net. You have to feel for Bogdan there, that was a freak bounce.

2124: GOALFLASH Everton 1-1 Bolton (David Ngog)

Bolton goal: Fair play to Bolton, as they strike back instantly. Nigel Reo-Coker is the driving force again as he surges forward, Louis Saha tracks him all the way and puts in a tackle, but only succeeds in flicking the ball through to David Ngog. The former Liverpool man has a lot to do, but does it well, turning inside John Heitinga and curling left-footed into the far corner.

2127:That Tim Howard strike is well worth seeing, but he is not on his own. Remember Pat Jennings against Manchester United in 1967, or Steve Sherwood against Coventry in 1984? And who could forget Steve Ogrizovic versus Sheffield Wednesday in 1986? Classics, each and every one

Great game. Newcastle really impressed me - first to every loose ball and simply wanted it more. Man Utd were awful, Rooney in particular. Berbatov more like the invisible man in the first half too.

Tell you what, Tottenham have a fighting chance of winning the league this season - it's certainly there to be challenged for.

I think Manure are a shadow of the side they've been in some previous years, but have done well to battle hard at times to get points - and they'll always have a bit of a hoodoo over some teams who get intimidated by their reputation.

Saying that, they could still win the league; they're only 3 points off 1st and have so much experience.

It'll be crucial how City cope with the major disruption of the ACN. They've got the squad to cover, for sure, but will they be able to re-jig their team succesfully?

Makes me quite frustrated to see Liverpool's plight. I can think of 4 games we've drawn where we've outplayed the opposition (including the Man U game) but failed to land the winning goal. With another 8 points, we'd be right in it - and no European football to distract us.

Unusual season where all the top teams have dropped a lot of points and playing inconsistently. City are still in the box seat but they will have to improve their away form
