Ferguson in the papers today saying that the Glazers have done a "great job"

More pieces of silver for the pot, eh, Baconface?

Seriously, whilst Ferguson will always be considered a true legend amongst Man U fans, many who I speak to - especially older ones - are pretty dismayed and disgusted that this so-called man of the people, someone with supposedly socialist instincts, has been so ready to be a cheerleader for the odious Glazer family, as they abuse the club as a personal cash-cow and put its future in jeopardy.

And will Real Madrid be holding a firesale of their own, given they're off on another spending spree, albeit for players in the sub-£40m bracket?

I have to agree, Fergie has many, many faults (and I mean hundreds;-) but he is never a yes man and would not be afraid to put his foot in it with the Glazers.

Working in Manchester for getting on for 11 years, I've found the stereotype about there being no Man U fans living in Manc to sadly not be true. There was a palpable feeling throughout the despised takeover that the fans were looking to Ferguson to stand with them. He is, after all, untouchable. If the disgusting Glaser parasites had tried to sack him, they'd have been dangling by ropes from the beams of the Stretford End before they could say "why is the merchandise shop empty?"

When Ferguson then stood shoulder to shoulder with the parasites and remained there ever since like an obedient lapdog, occassionally cooing his support for them, he let a lot of Man U fans down. He could have just shut up and got on with things, refusing to answer questions on the topic (just like the big baby stroppily refuses to talk to the BBC). Instead, he allows himself to be used by the Glasers whenever they need a little PR boost.

On a similar theme, my Man U-supporting boss is spitting chips today after seeing Cantona - his footballing idol - being the figurehead for mega-evil coporation Sky. He feels empty.

Up to a point I agree with what you're saying Martin, but Ferguson is in a pretty difficult position. A public stand against the Glasers would be extremely damaging for the club that he loves, and as they've pretty much said however much money they're offered they won't sell up, it really wouldn't achieve anything more than make his working relationship with them untenable.

Can anyone understand why the FA have arranged an England friendly so soon after the WC and right at the start of the season. Surely they aren't that hard up for money. Beggers belief that there is a friendly on 11th August, does anyone really think England would have improved in 4 weeks???

A great position to be in. Panic your club into engineering a 'dream move' to Chelsea or Utd now. Or, sit out the final year of your contract and...... engineer a 'dream move to Chelsea or Utd. Dontcha just leeeerve it.

Potentially better news on the horizon for Liverpool, with Hong Kong businessman Kenny Huang reported to be not far from a takeover.

What's funny is that he's talking directly with RBS, bypassing Stadler and Waldorff. He was apparently interested in buying the club in 2008 but baulked at G&H's £600m valuation. He's now trying to buy the club for £350m which, if successful, would leave the two American parasites with a very lean profit. Also in 2008, they allegedly turned down a £500m offer from DIC. Oh, how it'd be lovely to see the greedy twunts fall flat on their faces.

Huang apparently wants the deal wrapped up within the next two weeks in order to allow the club some transfer time whilst the window is still open. The deal would have to be rubber-stamped by the LIverpool Board but, with RBS holding a gun to the heads of G&H, they'll struggle to say no.

Hopefully, we'll dodge a bullet here, too, especially given Dos Santos has been touted in a player swap deal. I rate Dos Santos far more highly.

Tell you what I noticed - Torres says Hodgson visited himTorres in Spain and he really appreciated that. Hodgson never once went gobbing-off to the press about what he was doing/had done, therefore putting pressure on all concerned and giving the rumour-mongers material. The more I see of Hodgson, the more impressed I am. I just sodding hope he's got as much class as a manager ON the pitch!
