I would be amazed if Wenger sold him with just a week to go, why do that and leave him no time at all to get a replacement? He ( Wenger) has dug his heels in all Summer why change his stance now?

My original info late last season that he was going was from a good local source. We've got a lot of people connected with th club around here as you can probably imagine. That then looked like it would be wrong and that he'd be staying. This morning I read something on my iPhone suggesting he would be quitting in the next couple of days - can't remember which site it was on though. We'll find out soon enough. I know some people would like Wenger to dig his heels in and put Fabreghastly in the reserves as a punishment. Arsenal will win nothing this year IMO -too unsettled already. 

Understand that , its not up tpo Fabregas to quit though is it. Arsenal wont sell if the money isnt there. Wenger will lose face massively if he sells this late in the day. Madness IMO

FWIW, I reckon Fabregas will go in the January transfer window. That will allow Wanger to both save face and keep the Spanish waiters in Catalonia happy.

I have a sneaking suspicion (although admittedly it's unlikely) that Wanger is trying to do a deal for Ozil, who would seem to be a natural replacement and, in many ways, is a more gifted footballer. Of course, United, Chelsea and Real Madrid would have something to say about that.

It could come down to the availability of Ozil. The Germans are often difficult to negotiate with and maybe are dragging things out. All of this assumes Wenger is interested in Ozil of course.

For me, I think the Spanish will have already bought Fabregas in some written agreement but Wenger has manged to get them to delay until 2011. He is only 22 and another season in England will see him get better still, allow Wenger to save face and perhaps even appease the Arsenal fans.

Kirdi's name has been bandied around for weeks. Most Liverpool fans believe[d] that, as a chum of one of the two Yank parasites, he was a stooge to help bump the price up. He apparently represents a bunch of Canadian and Middle Eastern investors. Oh, great. I'm no financial genius, but I do know that investors usually like to see a return on their investment. So that's more money going out of the club.

The feeling about the Huang deal was that Liverpool would have been more than a simple financial investment. It was/is supposed to be backed by the Chinese Government and used as a bit of a vanity project, to not only showcase Chinese financial power, but also to act as a kind of trophy in China itself.

Liverpool is a hugely well-known city in China. This goes back to its maritime days and the establishment of one of Britain's first and largest Chinatowns. It's estimated that up to 10% of Liverpool people have some genetic Chinese link. The Beatles helped give a more recent boost to the city's image, whilst Liverpool was the sole UK organisation to have a pavillion presence at the World Shanghai Expo earlier this year.

In other words, the Huang bid was more likely to be a loss-leader for the owners, with success on the pitch delivering the highest possible profile the main motivation - not securing the largest profit and return for investors.

Yes, I know Abramovich likes waggling his willy at Chelski and the Arabs are in the process of looking for theirs to waggle at Citeh, but surely even the Chinese Government is more hard headed (no pun intended) than that. Even Abramovich is beginning to recognise that Chelski needs to be run on a proper profit and loss basis.

I wasn't thinking on the scale of Chavski or Citeh. Remember that if you take the huge debt interest payments off the Liverpool books, they have made a profit in most recent years. All Liverpool need from a squad perspective is a net outlay of around £50m in each of the first couple of seasons to be right up there again. The ever-growing Chinese economy has huge untapped potential as they increasingly want to be more westernised. I know Manure are THE team to support over there, given their multiple pre-season tours to the Far East and predominant status over the past 15 years or so, but a resurgent Liverpool with a high-profile Chinese ownership could easily usurp Man U as the No1 Premier League team in nationalistic China. That would give Huang's consortium more than enough financial return.

But first, they need to make Liverpool the No1 team in England.

Gunners and Wenger must be congratulated for taking the tough stance with regard to Fabregas.... He is a top player and when you see the kind of money being thrown about, i think barca were trying to get him on the cheap !!

I agree with this - the Spanish waiters having dragged 'tapping up' down to a new low by using the playing staff (through the media) to unsettle Farbregas.
