Glorious unbroken sunshine here, but the brisk NE wind is keeping it feeling quite fresh at 14 C around here but it is only 8.15 am anyway.

My ideal summer's morning as heat and high humidity does make me feel cranky, thus I'm glad to be no longer in the tomato greenhouse trade.

It's not just temperatures either. Back in the old days (couple of weeks back) when it used to rain, their forecasts for that were often as bad as Hugo's 32 dayer thing. Awful of late. I know I keep saying I'm loathed to knock the MetO, and I am, as they are usually superb, but the last couple of months they have regularly been awful.

Out of interest, what is your closest station, Doc? I can't see anywhere over 20c on the 8pm stats on Weather Online. Dyce at 20c at 8:30.

We're starting to climb now after a cooler start. Up to 16c

My WS is shielded but not with a Stevenson screen and although it does tend to over read a little in direct sunlight it is not by very much (I have other sensors in the shade to check). My garden is enclosed and a little lower than surrounding areas and tends to be a bit of a heat trap but the temperatures reported aren't usually too far off.

Gotta laugh at the nonsense on that WUnderground pan and scan map showing the "current temperatures". Stations within 10 miles of each other showing temperatures that differ by more than 10 degrees.

Apparently it is 27c in the centre of York at the moment. Is it b*g*ery.

Must be an awful lot of sensors in people's sheds.

I find these reports as accurate as any. Mainly official stations, airfields, etc.
A 'fresher' feel today with lower dps so temperatures of 22/23C widely nownare about right IMO.

The heat today seems to be more in the Northeast. Dundee at 26, and Newcastle doing well too.

At 27ºC my WS is no doubt over-reading a little. However it is one degree on either side of the nearest two stations.

Out of the city half an hour ago the station at the airport was at 23ºC. I would expect it to be higher (probably 24ºC) on the 11:50 am report?

25.0C here, and feels much warmer than recently due to virtually no wind. Seems like the Vale of York, say, Church Fenton, was seriously impeded this morning with low cloud and fog, but it was clear here. In fact, Church Fenton (9m ASL) at 11:00 was only 20C compared to 23C at Leeds Bradford (207m ASL). Perhaps down to the wind - NNW here compared to ESE at Church Fenton.

Whitkirk, Leeds - 85m ASL.
