My dad said that the sun had hardly broken through all day in 'Tellins.

Not had chance to post on here over the weekend (obviously) but I recorded my highest temp IMBY on Friday. We set out at around 4pm and it was uncomfortably hot - the kind of heat where you don't even move and break out in a sweat. The outdoor sensor read 31.3c when we left. It maxed out at 32.5c later that day. It's not 100% accurate, but gives a very decent crack at the correct temp.

When we set off in the car, its thermometer read 43c!!!! I tried to get a picture but by the time I'd fished my phone out it had dropped to 42c  I'll upload & post the pic when I get chance. It dropped to a more realistic 33c within half a mile.

Glad to say that the aircon in my current car is bob-on. With climate control set to 17c, it felt like being sat in a fridge

It's very still out there, and dead quiet what with it being rural Hampshire where everyone seems to go to bed at 10pm

There were actually some signs of convective cloud formation at around 9:30pm but of course it quickly died away again.

Wait a minute... holy BLEEP there's some thunderstorms rolling in!

Wamrest night of the year so far with an overnight low of 17.7c at 05.40hrs. The temperature has now started its upward climb, currently 18.0c.

Last time I recorded 30c + was way back in July 2006. All summers in between have seen summer peaks of between 27.8c and 29.4c.

If I breach 30c today I will be well chuffed.

I don't see how we're going to get remotely near the projected 31c, especially as its completely overcast.

The saving grace is that it's occurring on a Monday, a school and work day for many, rather than on a Saturday when people are most likely to drink a lot and become loud and stupid - a problem for around here at my harbour location whenever it does become hot.
It'll better be worth putting up with this heat and humidity for the thundery stuff later on down the line - here's hoping for that (trying to be level headed in case of disappointment).

Mid 20's, soupy, but not as sweat-inducing as I imagined it would be. With the dew point at 17°C, it's all a bit of a sleepy affair really. Great for keeping the neighbouring kids from running around shouting all day now that they're out of school for the summer!

It's gone hazy here and getting rather humid. Just a gentle breeze but that would be due to me being at the top of the valley

Currently twenty five degrees at stansted. Seven degrees up on yesterday's temperature at the same time, might pass the thirty degree mark today for the first time this year.
