Down here I'm waiting to see whether the swathe of cloud coming in from the west becomes the breeding ground for a lot of thundery activity within the next few hours. That's what the Met Office online forecast maps show, with some support from NAE, but none from WRF, which doesn't get things going until some 5 hours later.
Certainly looked ominous out there as the last of the daylight faded. The clouds actually looked a bit like mammatus but were a lot more subdued than the genuine article. It sure does feel clammy as well!
There's a small cell not far NW of here now, but it's not electrified... yet.
In the Channel, south of Penzance, a thin line of showers has materialised. According to those Met Office charts, that's what should develop into a large mass of convection that covers Central-Southern England by around midnight!
