I think it unlikely that Man U will shell out big money on a replacement for Valencia.. Fletcher can slot in at RM so can Hargreaves if he ever gets fit. There is also three recognised wide players in the team Giggs, Nani and Obertan and i believe that Rafael could also play in the RM as could Brown or Oshea. So there is plenty of cover but  maybe not a player who has all the qualities of Valencia.

I think that's the way that Rangers will approach the vast majority, if not all, of their European games just now. I reckon that Walter will have learned a lot from the drubbings we received from Sevilla and Unirea at Ibrox last seaon and will know he will have to be more defensive minded in order to hopefully aviod a repeat. Thast was the odd thing about Rangers last year, they did OK away from home in the CL (two draws and one defeat) but were dreadful at Ibrox- lost all three games.

Agree David ...very much back to the football that got them to the final to the Europa league. Its not great to watch but Ranger do have the players who can defend well and who will fight for each other. Walter doesnt have the money or the talent in his squad to compete in any other way. I am sure Walter will look to get 6 points from Buraspor and play the defensive game in his other game against Man U and the two games against Valencia.

Fantasy football at the Emirates last night some great attacking play by the Gunners. Was a total joy to watch and the first time i have seen Chamakh, he looks like an excellent purchase. Braga did not help themselves by playing such an open game which Arsenal took full advantage of.

The result aside..Watching the game and seeing the players on the bench and those who were missing thru injury made me realise what a very strong squad Wenger has.

I thought Braga were poor, but as they say you can only play those infront of you.

Vermarlen,Diaby,Rosiky,Walcott & RVP all out, yes Wenger has a strong squad but we have had in the past and still fallen short.............................time will tell.

I do love watching Arsenal play - if the oppo team doesn't come and park a bus in front their goal.

No I didn't - but if it was better than some of the Arsenal stuff, then it must have been fantastic. Fabregas at times last night was jaw-droppingly good. The HT analysis pointed out that he wasn't being picked up 'in the hole' so was being given way too much room. Arsenal must be wishing he'd be given that much room every week!

Sounds like Bremen's failure to pick up Van Der Vaart.

Solid wins for Chelsea and Arsenal last night and qualifying even at this early stage looks like a formality.

Tough game tonight for Man U and i expect them to scramble a draw in Valencia. Glasgow Rangers will look to attack at home against Buraspur and they should be good enough for the win....Leaving Man U in 3rd spot !

Tottenham will be to strong for Twente and be good for a home win.

As I've been at work only been able to catch the BBC text commentary, which gave the impression Man U were on top for the first half. Now home and seen the report which suggests Man U were not the best team on the night?

Yep, a good three points for United who were under the cosh. Valencia had enough chances to seal a win.

Quite the most bizarre game at WHL. A straight red that should have been given but wasn't (Huddlestone). Three penalties that should never have been given but were. Van Der Vaart misses a penalty, which should have been retaken but wasn't given.

Van Der Vaart then scores before rightly being sent off for a second bookable offence.

Spurs worth the win, but the scoreline flattered. Twente are no mugs and I would expect them to beat Werder Bremen at home.

Agree John... Valencia is a very difficult place to get a result. They have a fantastic home record in Europe and Man U have been total pants in Spain.

Valencia probably shaded the game in terms of posession but didnt really threat Van Der Sar...I thought Vidic, Ferdinand and young Rafael were excellent at the back. The substitutions made the the difference Macheda played in Hernandez and he worked his shot brilliantly to score...hopefully these two players will get more of a chance to shine.

Great result for Rangers they are in the running and if they can get something from the Valencia games they could bag a suprise qualifying place for the next round.
