Just saw Jay Wynne on News 24

Did show the Atlantic charts for Monday

The impression I get is the centre of the low is over central southern meaning that the strongest winds will be Channel bound ?

This is one that will be not be resolved till Sunday pm for sure

As you say, it won't be clear for a while yet.  A change of track of just a few tens of miles will alter which areas are worst affected, so it may not be clear until Sunday afternoon, once the 12z runs are out.  By then the depression should have formed.

This is a potent beast (some good charts to look at). It needs watching and I just hope everyone stays safe.

I would expect some of the warnings to go red on Sunday, particularly around southern coastal regions if the storm track stays as forecast.

Very rare to see a red warning, but looking at the Met Office matrix, I would say that red warnings would certainly be on the cards on Sunday night.

Express describes it as a "hurricane"

Perhaps on this occasion, they are technically correct as we may see hurricane force gusts.

Either way, I dread to think what my garden fencing will look like when its over!

I saw the Sun editorial yesterday and it mentioned about the Met Office warning of the storm, it also told its readers that the Met Office also predicted a barbecue summer a few years back.

I hope there isn't a media backlash if the storm does not pan out as first feared.

Two amber warnings for rain in 3 days - Fri and Sun - across the south and south-east. Totals should be around 25mm each but some places could get half as much again.

Looks like todays forecast has gone badly wrong though I concede a lot of doubt was thrown on the rain event today. It now looks that very little rain will affect the South of England as the wedge of rain stays on the other side of the channel. Ironically the most rain is falling further North across North Wales and the Midlands.
