Here is the 12z fax chart. The system is starting to develop. A complex system of fronts with an upper warm front running ahead of the low and a double frontal feature around the low itself.

Pressure now falling rapidly at the K1 Buoy which is to the east of the low centre.

At 14z the pressure was 997.9mb with a fall of 4.3mb in the last 3 hours. Wind speed at the Buoy has eased off but that is the lull before the main event. The wind has backed from WSW to SSW.

A little further to the west a ship at 48.3N 17.1W reports pressure of 994.2mb and a fall of 4.5mb in 3 hours.

Pressure has now steadied at 1003.0Mb after slowly rising all morning. Very squally shower has just moved through with gusts to 43Kts, and the mean at 32Kts. Wind should now back and ease ahead of the main event.

Looks like I might not be going into work in London at my usual early hour tomorrow morning.

South West Trains has already announced a revised timetable for tomorrow morning with very few services before 0800 and a maximum speed restriction across the whole network of 50mph. Full details to be published at the link below at 1530.
