The max gusts are impressive even for high exposed locations. I also acknowledge the impact of 70 - 80mph gusts in lower more populated regions. You may have escaped the worst though as the core of highest winds may just miss the NE of Scotland as the low pulls away into Norway.

Parts of Holyrood park have been closed due to falling rocks.

current situation that small area on the s/west flank looks to be of most concern.

More damage reports, some polytunnels near our home are totally shredded and all mobile networks are down here in Portree. But there's nothing new where that is concerned

Just glad no-one seems to have been badly injured.

Some hefty gusts here but we're in a fairly safe location inland and aways from the worst of the storm.

Thinking of you all up North and those of you on the East coast.  Stay safe all!

Given the conditions this morning, the damage, injuries/fatality and the fact transport scotland has a red warning out you have to wonder why the MetO didnt issue a red warning?

Surely if thats its purpose why not use it especially as this happened at rush hour

Red = "Widespread damage, travel and power disruption and risk to life is likely"

Surely that was always going to apply in this case?

Morning to you all, very strong gusty winds for the last couple of hours, blowing all sorts of stuff about. I have just been watching neighbours recycle bin and refuse bin dancing about all over her garden in the sudden gusts of wind. I have been off work for a couple of weeks (hernia op) so I am very fortunate enough not to have to travel in this mayhem of wind and rain. Take care and be safe!

Cheers Paul S.

Was lively here between 7 and 10 am with gusts in excess of 60mph. Block of flats 200 m away has had ridge tiles badly damaged for about 20 m.

Just had a shower which turned to wet snow for a while with again gusty winds.

Quite a few branches on roads and some trees down, and traffic very slow this morning due to problems on A19 and A1. Squally rain has reached here, we should be in the colder air in the next couple of hours.
