I've been saying that with regards snow I can take it or leave, we'll this is now I lie, I want some...just a little bit will do

Starting to get p*ssed right off with this rain now, no fun getting soaked when getting in and out the car, problem is only really need a lightweight jacket, anything bigger you start to sweat where it's so mild still

Well I’m officially now totally pixxed off !
The winter so far has been utter, utter c*ap as far as I’m concerned I HATE gales with a passion you would not believe. Annoying and destructive – the weather type I despise the most.

Only just behind is dreary rain – band, after band after band of it. Day after day after day. Month after soddin’ soaking month!

And all that’s before we get onto the total lack of proper winter weather. Gibbys summary has sounded like a stuck record for months predicting unremitting zonal dross as far as the eye can see day after day !

We are now more than half way through January and there is still no sign of the end of the zonal train.

TBH I’m now looking forward to Spring – at least the poxy rain will get warmer !

Another abysmal winters day in North Kent. Loads of heavy showers with torrential outbursts of rain. Only around 6 degrees! It is damp and miserable out there and we are forecast further rain for tonight and through the weekend!!

Why the hell does it have to be so mild and wet? Mild would be bearable if it was dry and sunny. But we have suffered week after week after week of wind and rain, wind and rain, ad finitum. Peoples lives are being ruined by serious flooding and for all we know this could just carry on for weeks and weeks and weeks!!

I am in my mid forties and I really cannot remember a time when we had so many flood events on such a regular basis and incessant rain, day after day after day? To me we seem to have 'bad' weather far more often than say thirty years ago..but maybe I am wrong, or my perception is wrong?

Myself and my partner lived in beautiful North Wales for nearly a decade, but our decision to move was based mainly on the fact we could no longer live with the predominantly grey and very wet climate! Damp gets into your bones and you long for sunny skies and a softer climate.

I am surprised that so many people on this forum don't seem to mind the current weather type and I wish I could have their outlook!!

Maybe the fact that my work/recreation is solely outdoor based and thus bad weather impacts upon my work more than the majority of people who are office based in cities etc? I work as a garden landscaper/designer and this incessant wet weather plays havoc with my work!

Another cold and wet spring such as last year will be disastrous for my business! After the crap spell of weather we have endured since a cold and miserable September with a wash out winter (so far), then all I want now is an incredible warm and sunny spring such as we got 2003 (Warm and dry Feb, March and April)

Winter...pah..it can sod off now for all I care!!

But indeed, I know how you feel regarding outdoor work as that reminded me of my council landscape gardener days in the late 80's and early 90's. I remember how often during the winter months work kept being put on hold due to rough wet weather, or had to work in it which made for a fair few miserable days (bear in mind we used to maintain a cliff section along the coast which was - and still is - subject to landslides and strong winds).
However, on the flip side, because it stayed mild more often than not, it always felt very pleasant when the sun stayed out for long enough because the cliff edge acted like a sun trap as it faced south as well as providing shelter from northerly winds. I was able to start getting red on the face by the sun as soon as February!

Incidentally, and Jive Buddy can relate to this, but I can remember how last winter it always seemed to snow on a Sunday and never during the week.

Well it's almost up there now with the dire snowless/frostless winters on the late 90s.

However, let's not be hasty as we have several weeks left for things to change around.

Maybe.

2nd frost of the year so far today here in Exeter but still never made it below freezing! Total number of frosts stands at 3 now. - Dire! Can't believe how poor it's been and why there hasn't been any change!, NOT one northerly or easterly! - Crazy...! If we get a westerly it only lasts for a day then back to south westerly or southerly!

Yet another grey, wet, vile day here. It would be hard to imagine more unpleasant weather. It is almost dark and it feels thoroughly unpleasant in the rain. When I saw the forecast for winds from a SEly quarter it was almost inevitable that the conditions would be grey, wet and nasty and sure enough it is.

Statistically the winter may have been interesting but in terms of pleasantness and enjoyability, never mind wintriness it has been indescribably bad...so far.

16 years ago today in the midst of the worst winter of my lifetime I woke up to lovely winter scenes courtesy of a snowy northerly. The filth I woke up to today ensures that winter 1997/98 can now lose it's unwanted accolade

Absolutely unreal it just keeps on getting worse. Each week delivers another kick in the teeth. Utterly rank and putrid out there. It's vile. Dark, raining and of course a SE wind. Nothing else delivers garbage like this

This unmitigated horror show of a winter is making me sick to the stomach literally. I am almost never ill but this week I've been struck down by a sickness bug which I blame solely on the foul conditions. The complete lack of any normal hard or even moderate frost to kill off bugs and germs. Nothing but a few pathetic frosts of the brevity and intensity normally associated with April or May

Haven't been outdoors since Wednesday and even then I didn't get out on my usual lunchtime walk because it was one of umpteen days of rotten wet SE'ly crap. Most of my holiday over Christmas and New Year was washed out and all weekends before Christmas were awful. This one is the worst of the lot. It's just a danger to both physical and mental health. An outrageously horrible depressing nasty winter. I am beyond even caring about seeing snow. Just want to see the back of this soul destroying tripe and start being able to actually enjoy being outdoors again.

The worst part of the forecasted return to unsettled conditions - especially reading the MetO updates these past few days - is that it's the north & west who are going to be facing the brunt of the wind and the rain. At least with the pre- and post-Xmas storms, it was the southerners and [especially] the precious south easterners who took the worst for a bloody change.

Just think though, when you eventually get some sunshine on the N E coast, how good that will be!.. After what has seen like endless gloom and rain down here on the south coast, today was a joy to behold! Your time will come!
