indeed matty and some families have been flodded before xmas as just said on tv very sad with no where to go my thoughts are with them.

The dark stripe on the WV image spiralling into the low centre is very dry air rapidly descending, and a signature of a sting-jet situation. Hence the highest warning level.
It should be noted that should upper winds push down to sea level, the location may not be as forecast and anywhere from NW England to the S Midlands are at risk IMO.

hi all   this storm coming in today could  might be on a par of oct 1987 storm or bun night storm . it looks like north wales and north wards will get the worst of the storm .  my brother is a paramedic /ablance driver in liverpool . i hope he will take care . try phoning him but he on duty .

Big gusts now here, lost power momentarily. Just hoping not a repeat of Christmas storms when we lost power for a few days and phone line for nearly two weeks (no mobile reception here either). Already lost two trees in our garden this year.
