About an hour of heavy sleet and now light rain. I'm actually pretty amazed, ive seen sleet twice this week (on tuesday there was also sleet), and snow on monday. Sleet is rarer than snow, by the time you see snow flakes its basically wet snow; but two propper sessions of critical sleet which has to be at exactly the right temp to occur.
For instance today, no snowflakes were visible but the rain drops were distinctly icy and contained melted snowflakes on close examination on a coat; I would say that is proper sleet as opposed to very wet snow where flakes are visible.
It is irratating though, because about 15 minutes ago it was coming down pretty hard, and you could tell it was critical, if it had gone on for 5 more minutes it would have changed to snow.
