H.P. spell in March means one thing to me - warm days and cold, clear nights. i.e. big diurnal temp. variations. That's assuming too much cloud doesn't get trapped into the circulation of course.

Think the winter lovers need to let it go now, some already have (Gooner etc)

Looks like a decent spell weather in the next 7-10 days, although never especially mild here - nice to see a prominent azores high and a northerly jet stream this time of year, last year of course the jet was through the azores into Spain

I like winter weather in the winter (so last spring was not welcome), so at this stage I'm looking for the sort of weather we've got now, light overnight frosts, with warm / sunny days; in other words spring weather.

In my eyes, winter is over - it was horrible - let's enjoy spring.

Anniversary snow storm?

Pretty much a year to date when alot of snow fell
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-21907837

The idea of a fine dry settled spell followed by a week of winter is gathering pace. would really be a kick in the teeth though.

remarkable consistency out to FI.

Probably explains how quiet this board has been over the past few days. Fine and dry - long over due.

That cold spell keeps rearing its head in various forms later in the month. Will it arrive as a Cold Northwesterly or will we be closer to the HP which will just bring us 1-2 nights of sever frosts? would be nice to at least see some snow fall from the sky this year.

High pressure starting to dominate the atlantic, few signals in recent days of stuff going to greenland; one to watch closley. A northerly can be still very cold at this time of year especially for scotland.

A 1-2*C undercook of maximum temperatures by GFS today makes the high teens look even more achievable on Sunday

Signs in the longer term of the PV finally departing from Canada, that potentially leading to higher heights to the NW of the UK, which is what CFS has been tending to run away with lately.

On the other hand, today has seen a bit of a hint that the old 'residual energy' situation could occur, with the PV refusing to vacate Canada entirely - we saw that on a number of occasions last winter, with the models struggling to handle it more than a week in advance.

Unlike back then, such residual energy would then feed an Atlantic storm track that's more to the NW of the UK, so promoting a continued drier theme in the SE, though perhaps not entirely.

...or it could just go the way of GEM instead  That run is vastly different as early as day 6 - way, way more progressive with those Atlantic storms moving N of the UK.
