Lol at people now moaning Rooney is too central. Maybe he should play in goal.

Rooney, like England, is clearly jinxed in international tournaments. Doesn't matter what he does it won't fit.

Now Johnson this half actually has been pretty good.

never before have I seen a team look so capable of getting forward and have so little cutting edge in front of goal. Johnson given the ball away again.

That goal was all about Sturridge.

On the back foot again now.

There is a delicious irony in England getting beaten by route one football.

No one's really surprised are they? No one really bought into it did they?

Exactly as predicted.

So, Stevie G slips and lets the Chavs in: Check

Misses a header against Uruguay: Check

When he makes errors they are absolute corkers.

Not surprised at all by defeat (I predicted a 2-1 to Uruguay in my World Cup predictions sheet). What is a bitter pill to swallow is that buck-toothed simpleton was the difference. Uruguay did not look capable of scoring from anyone else.

Stupid sentiment, because he was there. You could make that comment about any player from any team in the competition, it's an irrelevant point entirely.

Hard to throw any blame at Hodgson, he kept faith in Rooney who got the monkey off his back. Sterling, though not in this game really, deserved his starting place on the Italy performance.  No-one can blame him for his defence players shortcomings, and his philosophy to attack (limited it may be) is the right one.   Fair to say, that's as good as we are, at the moment.

Get behind the lads for the last game, dead rubber that it could be, and hope the young ones put in a good performance for their further development.  Peace.

Let's be optimistic. England could be the first team in history to lose its first two games and then go on to become world champions.
