Difference between us and Uraguay was Suarez.Whatever you think of him he is a world class striker and probably was only 75% fit tonite,

We are falling further and further behind most other nations, something drastic needs be done to even begin to restore England as a competetive force in international football

@Springsunshine, I am not sure about us falling behind other football nations since I believe we are heading the right direction again.  I just think if we can sort out the defence, and get a striker with cutting edge (Sturridge is still a work in progress), then we can compete more.

Unfortunately, football is the national sport but the national team doesn't deserve the level of support it gets.

It's about time people start deserting their support of them because they are being mugged by them and have been for most of the last half century.

It would be interesting to compare the success of the national football team since 1966 in big tournaments compare to our other national sporting teams in that same period in big tournaments.

It wouldn't surprise me if it is way down the list.

Thought it was a poor match compared to the Italy one, although tonight I was stone cold sober which may partly explain things.  Sorry, but I don't buy all this 'jam tomorrow' stuff about the current England team. I'm old enough to have heard this rinse and repeat many times. Uruguay didn't look anything special, and the current Italian team is average by their standards.

England failed to pass the ball well, couldn't control the ball when it was passed at 100mph. Unable to win a 50/50 ball was a real pussy performance

Take a look at how gutted the rugby players were last week and that was basically a friendly. Do I care that England are out? Yes, because I'm patriotic and want my country to succeed. Do I care that these self absorbed, over paid chavs are coming home early? Not a bit, in fact in the back of my mind somewhere I'm rather pleased.

Bookies apparently taking odds on where Woy will put Wooney next - an aisle seat or a window seat?

Oh dear.

Uruguay gave England no time on the ball, and England crumbled. So many players looking scared sh*tless when they received the ball. Why are English players so uncomfortable on the ball?

Shocker. But then, I've said all along that Hodgson is an abysmal manager; had first hand experience of him at my club.

Eriksson was certainly better at least he got us to the quarters in 2002 and 2006, best achievements since Italia 90.

And Eriksson was poor, IMO. He had 'the golden generation' but tried to change our natural playing style, which worsened us, he never had a plan B, and squandered a 'golden' opportunity.

So, Stevie G slips and lets the Chavs in: Check

Misses a header against Uruguay: Check

When he makes errors they are absolute corkers.

Praying for a Italy v Costa Rica draw to put an end to this Brazil 2014 myth once and for all.

This is a superb tournament. It knocks South Africa (the worst World Cup of my lifetime) out of the park. Genuinely looking forward to the rest of it 👍

England don't have a ***ing chance of getting through and I don't care what the mathematics say. If we are going down take Suarez with us.

I am not thinking rationally at the moment of course.............this view may change.
