My gut feeling is that Italy will win against Costa Rica and then draw with Uruguay.  However, there is a scenario where Italy beat Costa Rica and Uruguay 1-0, and England win against Costa Rica but only by one goal and go out on goal difference.  That wouldn't surprise me either.

Well in a weirdly unrealistic way I am optimistic Italy will best Costa Rica this evening
It all then goes to the last round and when games are playing simultaneously strange things happen
Never say never in this game

And Eriksson was poor, IMO. He had 'the golden generation' but tried to change our natural playing style, which worsened us, he never had a plan B, and squandered a 'golden' opportunity.

Whether that's because they aren't good enough or are more focused on the new domestic season is another question.

It's a bit like Gareth Bale and Wales - great player but mixed with poor ones that's why Wales didn't qualify.

You know what, I knew the result of last nights game just by watch the National Anthems. Uruguayans belting theirs out, our boys, nervous and scared mumbling there way through. They froze and bottled it, in the way they always do.
Gerard and Rooney always do. And when the experienced and captain of the team clam up and go into theirs shells, were can the youngsters look.

Be surprised if Suarez plays in a Liverpool shirt again, IMO he is off

Not saying you're wrong, but there's been nothing to suggest he wants to go. Liverpool have just shown him we have a team capable of competing for the title, are in the ECL proper for the coming season, and are investing heavily in the squad. I think only  RM or maybe Barca could tempt him away. And if RM came for him, they'd have to beat the Bale fee (and let us have some players, too!).

He only signed a new contract last season.

I should add signing Lambert isnt investing heavily

And we've signed Can, close to wrapping up Moreno, will likely sign Lallana & Lovren, possibly Shaqiri. That's about £80m worth.

In fact, come to think of it if Costa Rica win it might be tempting for England to throw the final game just to increase the chances of watching Suarez cry.

Woeful Italian performance, but credit where credit is due to Costa Rica. No-one gave them a cat in hells chance of making it to the second round (myself included), and here they are looking like they will go through as group winners (assuming head to head is the first tie breaker?).
