Sad to think that England are no better than Greece really. Italy also look like a poor side these days.

Some hysteria on social media talking of year bans, life time bans and 20 match bans. It was bad no question but I'd only give him a 10 match ban at the most.

I love that Suarez's comment after the England game was to the effect "this is aimed at my critics in England". Well Suarez, I wonder how you feel about those comments now?  Shot himself in the foot with that one.

His tournament is over - that is clear. As far as fifa bans are concerned, they do have the ability to ban a player from all football activities. I assume this relates to failing a drug test or match fixing and not 'on the field' disciplinary matters.

I very much doubt that blatter is keen to stretch fifa's involvement into what will, in effect, be internal la liga or uefa matters. he can expect to miss much of uruguay's next world cup qualifying campaign.

The talk coming out of Anfield is that, although one can never say anything with certainty when it comes to Suarez, he's telling the club he's no intention of going anywhere. If there is a release clause, then it's dependent on Liverpool not qualifying for the ECL - and only if certain clubs (believed to be RM or Barca) meet a pre-defined transfer fee, believed to be £80m. Don't forget, he's on over £200k a week here.

Outside of RM & Barca (and excluding English clubs, because John Henry knows there'd be a lynching if they sold LS to one of the plastic clubs), perhaps only PSG could afford the fee.

But would anyone be willing to pay that sort of money for such an unhinged player, who could flip again and miss 15, 20 or more games in a season?

I can't see any European teams going near him with a barge pole after this latest episode if only for sponsorship reasons. NO idea whether the same issues will apply to the South American leagues.

For the record any ban imposed won't affect his club career, ridiculous as that is - it will only affect him at international level. Personally I think he should go to prison. Prosecute the tosser through the law

I'm ducking out of this debate. I've said my piece: it's rather disgusting; I think he should get an international ban; I don't give much of a toss, though, as long as he keeps banging the goals in for Liverpool.

I'll leave you all to your blustering indignation

Saint, in what way is people's disgust at him biting a player, yet again, a disgusting, vile, pretty much childish act of anger and spite, am overreaction? How exactly?

The answer is your views are clouded as he was a Liverpool player who nearly took you to an unlikely league title before Gerrard botched things up. When he goes, so does any chance Liverpool have of even comfortably maintaining a top four place in my opinion

Only the Greeks could get through to the 2nd round only scoring one goal in the group stage. IVC just equalised though. They're going to need another

Maximum ban is 24 matches apparently, although the highest to date is eight.

Personally, I'd go for the full 24 but confine the ban to matches at future World Cup tournaments. That should cover the rest of Suarez's career.

The more I think about it the more I'm thinking we need to sack Hodgson. Yes we were never going to win the World Cup but we are better than 1 point and 2 goals against what turned out to be 3 average at best teams. We need new ideas as we build torwards Euro 2016.

A big overreaction to Suarez, I mean come on how can any animal with such disfigured looks and teeth of a beaver not take a bite of any other living thing. I still think he should be banned from football full stop, how long for who cares he's done nothing but brought the game into disrepute on numerous occasions, and what gets me is how fans from the city of eternal strife can back a racist thug like him.
