We've already discussed this. A bite runs the risk of transmitting diseases whilst a broken leg (brutal as it is) generally doesn't. It amazes me that his punishment is likely to be only a fixed term ban. He should also face legal action, but above all psychiatric help. Until the psychiatrist 'signs off' he shouldn't be allowed on a football field again. 

Except a FIFA spokeswoman confirmed yesterday that any ban would only apply to international games.

Obviously I wouldn't rule anything out with FIFA, but extending a ban from international to domestic, for on-field foul play, would be unprecedented and of questionable legality. I'm sure Liverpool's owners would not simply shrug and accept either the possibility of their best player sat kicking his heels for an extended period of time, nor their largest asset having its value severely eroded.

So, looks like the British media's campaign to demonise/unsettle him and drive him out of Liverpool will just have to continue next season.

Suarez banned for nine international matches and for four months from any football activity.

Works out to 9 PL games as he won't be available until end-October.

Stop blaming FIFA and the Media, if Suarez didn't bite anyone he wouldn't get a ban. Suarez is the only one to blame, nobody else.

If the ban on football related activities includes registration, then that means the buck toothed prick won't be playing any CL football. Anywhere.

Unless he is transferred, which FIFA have clarified is possible.

A lenient penalty IMO and no mention as far as I'm aware of a requirement for him to seek psychiatric help. On the plus side he is now a proven serial biter and his market value is likely to be reduced significantly. 

If they'd have banned him from international football for 12/18/24 months, I wouldn't have given a toss.

But, when he'd previously been banned at club level, this ban didn't extend to international football and he did indeed play for Uruguay when banned at club level.

No other player, when banned for foul play on the football pitch when partaking in an international, has ever had the ban extended from the international game to their club. There is no precedent for this.

Liverpool have released a statement: "Liverpool Football Club will wait until we have seen and had time to review the FIFA Disciplinary Committee report before making any further comment."

I'm obviously disappointed, as I do think the punishment is unfair on Liverpool, however it was our choice to stick with him the last time. I know the precedent is international bans to be international and domestic to be domestic but FIFA had no choice really.

I can't explain what its like to have the most wonderful player at your club, a joy to watch and a genius who single handedly could win your club trophies, and yet deep inside you know you are best rid of. Its so odd and just completes a bloody hollow feeling in my stomach following a really shitty end to the season that promised so much.

Quite. You might have been able to put up an argument if it was a first offence. Arguably, it's his fourth, if you include the ban for abusing Evra.

Eventually, Suarez will learn, whether he sees a shrink or not.
