Medlock Vale Weather

Don't think there's much else better in weather than watching millions of snow flakes fall from the sky, in a couple months time I will be dusting off my leaf blower which I also use as a snow blower, works well

Time and a place for autumn & winter πŸ˜‰ June. July, August, and September (well at least the first 15 days), are not 😜

Just a little aside to this thread. I'm not a major lover of anything approaching uncomfortable heat, which is why this week has been more pleasant than the humid thundery heatwave we had before.

However, I will sacrifice my comfort levels if extreme heat is on offer, just for the curiosity. Selfishly, I'd love to see a 40C heatwave in this country, even though it'd actually be quite awful. Just to say "I experienced that", you know?

Conversely, I'd apply the same twisted logic to a winter freeze, just to balance it out!

No I don`t like hot weather, anything up to around 22C is fine, above that is too hot.

Having to keep windows open because we can`t afford air conditioning means flying insects come in and out as if they  own the place. It`s also difficult to sleep at night when It`s 25C in the bedroom.

Roll on winter.

Who loves the hot summer weather ?

Who hates the hot summer weather ?

Reasons for both

For me it is nice but nights can be a nightmare if you want to sleep

Seriously 24C and all you hear is people complaining about the heat!! I've sat there, temperatures 18-19C, in jeans and t-shirt feeling the chill of the breeze of the North Sea, with family ribbing me. They'd be there in just shorts sunbathing like it was Barbados lmao, I'd be complaing about the nip in the air.

One time on the bus coming back from the town, it was sunny around 23C and fairly humid (unusual for Tyneside), 2 ladies got on and complained about the heat to another woman on the bus "ee! Ah nah, it this global warming!!" Was the response πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

As I think Doc said above - no one in this country who's not been outside this country knows real heat and humidity. Bunch of whinging saps πŸ˜‚

I would add a 2003 caveat to that, as it was decent for a while.

Hottest I've ever felt was when I was at the California-Arizona border about 10 years ago with work - for a week I experienced temps between 45-50C in the desert, the humidity level was low but my god it felt like opening an oven as you went outside. Night time temps were in the 30's so air conditioning was completely needed!

These sand dunes below were interesting that I walked on! ending up knee deep in them most of the time! like the Sahara.

I do wonder if some people here are walking around in overcoats and jeans or are just very unhealthy because recent temperatures really shouldn't be causing issues! Perhaps at 33C upwards some folk may struggle, but at 24C - 30C like we've bee in the last week or so, well....I'm speechless!

FWIW I love hot weather and am more than happy to donate any thunderstorms that come my way to anyone who wants them! Around here the majority of people seem to be enjoying the fine summer we've had to date.

I used to say the hotter the better but I've moderated with age and I think I prefer mid twenties because I like to be pottering in the garden in the warm sunshine and anything hotter gets me looking for shade.  I don't mind 30's temps on holiday when you can lounge about and dip in the sea or pool to cool off but working in those temps would just be too much.

A couple of years ago we went to Florida in July and I'd never go again at that time of year as it's just too hot and humid.  In the theme parks hubby and I spent more time in the air conditioned restaurants than we did on the rides.  Yet we were there in June about 15 years ago and really enjoyed the weather.

Patricia's reference to "speechless" was in reply to Brians post, so why would you quote it?, and futhermore what Patricia said was a world away from the point of your arguement. My objection to the current conditions was more to do with humidity than heat, a point that has been picked up on by a number of contributors to this thread. Let me make it clear, I have not issued a veiled apology, I stand by what I said, and just because its not practically possible to back up the statement, does not mean it was wrong, anymore so than you can prove to the contary. If you can't deal with that, its not my problem.

If we are going to get personal about these things, the only daft statement that has been made was yours," the hotter and more humid and uncomfortable the better". I know you don't really mean it because I recall a similar statement in last years thread which I picked you up on, and you more or less admitted that it was said very much tongue in cheek. You stated you enjoy watching people whinging, so its all a part of the image you wish to portray, that of a wind up merchant.

You carry on enjoying your little world, and I will carry on enjoying mine, once the heat and humidity has gone.
