I used to say the hotter the better but I've moderated with age and I think I prefer mid twenties becauseI like to be pottering in the garden in the warm sunshine and anything hotter gets me looking for shade. I don't mind 30's temps on holiday when you can lounge about and dip in the sea orpool to cool off but working in those temps would just be too much.
A couple of years ago we went to Florida in July and I'd never go again at that time of year as it's justtoo hot and humid. In the theme parks hubby and I spent more time in the air conditioned restaurantsthan we did on the rides.Yet we were there inJune about15 years ago and really enjoyed the weather.

I do wonder if some people here are walking around in overcoats and jeans or are just very unhealthy because recent temperatures really shouldn't be causing issues! Perhaps at 33C upwards some folk may struggle, but at 24C - 30C like we've bee in the last week or so, well....I'm speechless!

Warmest I have experienced was 2003 when it hit 38*c here BUT I was in Spain at the time and I reckon it got low 40's for a few days, only good thing was had the pool to sit in drinking large gin and tonics with crushed ice

Hot weather is great. Humidity's OK so long as it doesn't mean rain. We need less of that rubbish. Dry, dry, dry is what I like. Severe summer drought, protracted winter drought, failed autumn rains. The more parched and yellow the landscape looks, the better.

In fact I would willingly trade a couple of degrees of summer heat if it meant more intense drought.

So this summer has been pleasant enough but not nearly as dry as a really good drought crisis, nor hot enough to compensate. No 33C yet, which I would class as entry level "hot" rather than "very warm".

Not everyone is intelligent enough to post in the MO thread

P.S Currently typing this as the heat begins to rise, fridge fully loaded with beers, although have told myself no slurping till atleast 4pm... especially if I want to be awake to enjoy my curry tonight

As I think Doc said above - no one in this country who's not been outside this country knows real heat and humidity. Bunch of whinging saps ๐Ÿ˜‚

I would add a 2003 caveat to that, as it was decent for a while.

Love hot weather when it arrives here. At some point it usually means a risk of thundery activity which is a bonus.

It also means climbing SST's around our shores which is a nice latent convective store for colder times ahead.

It also causes a big increase in the number of moths visiting my trap and sometimes means I catch some rare stuff dependant on the origin of the airmass through migration.

Warm nights don't really bother me a great deal. We have installed a wall fan in the bedroom which is great if it is hot.
