Big snow shower just been through Sheffield, after rain showers all morning.  Settled on cars in the higher parts.  Looks like that's it for the time being though, drier spell in the NW flow.  We need those showers hitting Western Scotland and N Ireland to keep going and make it as far as central England.  Maybe tonight....

Been popping in & out of XCWeather today.


Liverpool Airport air temp has been flitting between 3c and 4c all day, but the DP has been dropping consistently, from +2c this morning, to -1c now.

Light snow flurries in South Edinburgh since 3pm and have given a light dusting on the frozen ground. These snow flurries being blown way ahead of their parent CuNimbs visible to the west and northwest...These snow showers are beefier giving heavy snow just now in the west of Scotland

I believe I missed some hail and snow at home today. Hills look white and there's still some hail on the grass. The temp is down to 0.1c. Just need the Irish Sea to start making some showers!

Yes we had a heavy snow shower and a temporary covering but what does it take to get a proper snowfall in Penrith these days!

Synoptic Charts like today have led to snow chaos in the town in recent years but not it seems in 2015.

This cold zonality should be a snow machine in Cumbria but despite repeated attempts the weather just doesn't deliver.

The briefest of briefest showers as I drove home tonight, produced definite wet splodges on my car windscreen, mixed in with some rain. Is that my first snow since March 2013, I guess so!😉
