I REALLY hate living in Thanet! If the new job proves to be the right one, then I'm looking to move down to the Folkestone area. I'll be closer to my real 'home' (France via the tunnel ), and to some decent weather!

Seen  first snow of the winter now - a 2 min flurry this morning at about 9:30 - on the leading of  a drizzle shower

Interesting and odd snow distribution today, the below pic looks like Mossley near Saddleworth and I would imagine must be above 150-200m but no decent snow apart from the summits as you can see, yet parts of Rochdale that are lower down have had a decent covering. https://twitter.com/sjholt50/status/556471952345661444/photo/1

Though I'm not 100% sure what time this picture was taken.

Snowing now but still only partial coverage. I'm finally under the streamer so here's hoping for a decent covering later.

Hope these showers continue into the night, because they'll become increasingly snowy. Sod's law (and MetO ) say they won't.

Another snow shower 0.1c. Road is covered again. Probably 2cm  open grass where there has been minimal melting. High of 1.9c . Looks like some heavier showers on the way around Burnley currently.

The one tomorrow moving down from Scotland looks like a very weak affair atm.

There's a fairly useful blue dotted line on the Raintoday radar showing the Liverpool/Dublin ferry route, and the showers have been tracking along it almost exactly. I keep checking to see if the direction shows signs of a more NW-SE tilt but it seems dead set on an almost direct W-E motion currently (perhaps an ever so slight tilt now directing more showers into S Manc and Sheff). A new streamer popping up over Snowdonia and tracking east puts my location absolutely slap bang between the two!

Looks like a fairly intense stream heading in the direction of Lpool again shortly.

All snow again here, dew point has lowered and I think this is the reason why it has returned to snow. Temp earlier was fine but the dew was marginal....but for now it's ok and snow is starting to cover surfaces again.

-4dc clear and previous few inches of snow iced solid. Weak band of precip overnight, doubt it will amount to much tbh. Temps all upgraded to 3-7 dc for Glasgow next week. Seems its more bust than boom now.

1cm covering of snow from showers over the last hour as they finally track more to the south.

Finally having a wet snow shower that started as hail. Not holding my breath as the next shower could be anything, but there's a slushy dusting at least! Think unfortunately the 850s are just a degree or two too high for a good setup close to the coast. Could be quite impressive further east though looking at the radar.
