You completely misunderstand the point. I said Parliament represents the sovereign will of the people, not the Conservative Party. The same would apply whoever won a majority in Parliament.

It is interesting you say this because you voted Labour and I read in the Times, one former Labour Cabinet minister called Ed's strategy as "idealised 1970s socialism tarted up with American political consultant speak"

So according to that, you voted "going back in time"

I see a lot of this at the moment from the left and I think they are protesting against the wrong target. The reason many find the result of the election so hard to accept, is that they were led up the garden path by the opinion polls, right up until the exit poll came out on Thursday evening. So it is the pollsters against whom they should be protesting in reality, since they gave false hope to those who wanted a different result from the actual one.

I don't question the result, nor does anyone. That is the wonderful thing about us (you included viz 1997-05) we accept when we lose. Doesn't mean we're silenced nor should it.

One bit of trivia.

Cable, Alexander, Davey, Carmichael are still Cabinet ministers and will remain so until Cameron announces the rest of his Cabinet.

The Tories are not only victorious at the general election but also at the local elections.

They did well in 2011 but this time even better.

So far 528 extra council seats and 30 extra councils.
