Monthly outlook - By Simon Keeling of Online weather:

http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-app/reports?LANG=en&MENU=205&DAY=20150826

No heat wave on the cards by any means then but at least the nights look set to turn cooler - it's been so muggy, damp, humid, uncomfortable and close lately!

Weird MetO forecast for Chichester on Sunday. The icons show no rain during the day, but there is a severe weather warning for heavy rain throughout the period.

I can see that this combination is possible if it turns out that there are extremely localised storms which the vast majority of places miss - but the juxtaposition looks very odd.

Not long time ago at 2 days ago they were showing hot Sunday and a decent Monday then yesterday changed tactic and keep the heat right to the continent coasts with washout Sunday and drying out Monday.  Now changed to dry Sunday with 21C whcih is 8-9C down from recent prediction.

In all the so called super computers, models and media forecasts had been very wrong and worse as time goes.  Also more worse when they kept using rain or showers, or mixed as they have no idea how to forecast what type of rain or weather.

Use Canadian way of rain risk percentage as it was simple method to know if will rain or not and miss the 6 days forecast on Euronews teletext with max, min, rain % and sunshine hours.  This was always come off most of the time and high accurately than what I said above.  If this still exist which now gone thanks to digital TV killed the teletext off I would stop using the models and TV forecasts completely.

*October*
Indications are for a fair start to the month with high pressure in control of conditions. This could bring a brief period on fair, late summer conditions. Probably rather warm, although with cool nights and some fog patches during the early mornings.
From mid October the jet stream is expected to strengthen over or very close to the country bringing windy and more unsettled conditions. Rain may well be heavy at times with a risk of widespread gales. Temperatures probably near normal for the time of year.

*November*
Stormy conditions are expected to be in control through much of November.
With a strong jet stream blowing from west to east the weather stays unsettled. bands of rain sweeping eastwards and a risk of gales too.
There is the threat of colder air slipping into Scotland at times, bringing snow on the hills, but for most temperatures will be pretty close to average, and perhaps above average of many central and southern areas.

What a load of rubbish - and looking at the photos it should be obvious that it's hail. Anyway if it is snow and there is some cold weather and frost this weekend then make the best of it as it could be the last before things turn milder by end of the month and wetter by October. LOL the irony!!

In isolation they are very interesting probability charts but they shouldn't really be viewed in isolation as a forecast.

I thought that (headline excepted) this story in yesterday's Telegraph seemed to discuss many of the options including El Niño-related issues. The main point being that these things can lead to colder European winters but it is not a direct/linear relationship:

Having read The Telegraph article there seems to be some grounds for a colder than average winter if the Met Office is to be believed. We shall see. Certainly the autumn has kicked off in an autumnal mode....

Not a bad outlook really with plenty of useable weather over the next few weeks if it's right that is.
