I find the lack of information regarding Thursday interesting from the Met Office..

Wednesday:

A good deal of cloud with further showers of rain or sleet at low levels, and snow on hills. Feeling particularly cold in the brisk breeze. Maximum Temperature 3C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Staying cold with overnight frosts and further wintry showers. Feeling especially cold on Friday due to a strong northeasterly wind. Perhaps turning a little less cold on Saturday.

Even the little forecast symbols have gone from light snow to just an hour of sleet for IMBY.

There's still 36 hours to go and as the margins are so fine there's still a chance things will change back favourably for snow, but those expecting 2-4 inches (of snow) may have to revise their expectations to a dusting or zilch.  The 6.30 BBC 1 forecast had rain and sleet and 5c.

Keep expectations suitably low I suggest.

I***t forecaster Rachel Mackley for BBC SE managed to contradict herself in the same sentence re Thursdays snow, I suppose that's the definition of keeping your options open

Rather odd ending to the Beeb's forecast at 10.30PM (unless I've missed something) with Matt Taylor expressing uncertainty about whether the less cold air coming round the high will reach as far as the south.

I do not go in for meto bashing... but their forecasts and warnings for up here in the NE have been nothing short of a disgrace. Every single one has pretty much been wrong, often with almost zero snow falling in the times when they have had their warnings out for disruptive snow. I tend to think they don't bother thinking through the forecast as much for this area. I'm not sure what else could explain it.

Feel free to post in my moan/no snow thread. - I will be giving this a break on here soon - as you're all probably aware that I only post here during the winter months or if there is a cold spell on it's way but having been let down last time and this time I really don't think i'll bother watching the models. Even the forecasts a day ahead are inaccurate too.

But you live in Devon at sea level. It snows there once in a blue moon, and apart from a 30% chance of some frontal snow early this week, that would still probably have been rain in your location, there was never likely to be any snow at any time from this spell where you are. I can understand disappointed, but let down?

Weather online update - no wonder it's been published so early ...very little going on, very benign:

I see the extended outlook has gone from temps just above normal to temps around average.

Better get out of the thread before someone declares there's an arctic blast on the way on March :)

In London it has been freezing today and I believe the SE/London will continue to endure much colder than average temperatures for the foreseeable future especially as we are about to get another high pressure system over us next week with no doubt cloudy skies as this week.... It never got above 3 degrees today here and has been perishingly cold..... Once tomorrow's rainy/windy SW blip is out of the way it will be back to cooler than average temperatures...
