Fantastic result for Man U today !!  Man U fielded a weakened team due to injury and perhaps choice and it was a risk with Wolves playing so well. Wolves better team in the first half and unlucky to be a goal down.... second half Man U were in control but against the run of play Wolves got level and it looked very much like a draw... 3rd minute of injury time JI SUNG PARK get his and Man Us second, Mcarthy couldnt believe it. A great finnish by PARK who was the MOTM popping up everywhere giving an outstanding performance.  PARK or BALE .. well it would be PARK for me.

Not English premiership but an amazing scoreline at Parkhead Celtic 9 Aberdeen 0.. amazing yes but sadly the fact is that whenever Celtic play Aberdeen the Dons dont turn up and lie down. When Aberdeen play Rangers its a different story and Aberdeen make a huge effort against Rangers and the games are always very close !!

Poor performance by Arsenal so far. They'll really have to up their game in the second half to get a result out of this. I'm sure they will because Newcastle can be relied upon to do something stupid.

Good win by Liverpool. Didn't see the game, although I saw both Torres goals, which were great finishes.

P.S. Andy Gray, even by his own standards, has been uttering some faecal matter this evening, describing Woy as 'brave' for employing four instead of five in midfield. Er, hang on, they were playing at home FFS.

At least Chelsea are not being allowed to run away with it, but none of their main challengers look upto it this year.

Think we might have got a bit lucky according to some stats but we finished stronger and might even have nicked it. I would take a draw at White Hart Lane all day long though.

A good point for Sunderland no doubt Still thought Webb should have awarded that penalty. I laughed at the corners stats - something like 18-3. We lack a cutting edge; thank god Defoe will be back soon - probably for the Arsenal game.

Under the circumstances I tend to agree with you. The massive corner count was brought about by Sunderland defending far to deeply, particularly in the first half. In the second half we adopted a 442 system, I am glad to see that Bruce is beginning to see some merits from this, and both teams had more space hence Spurs scoring their goal, which incidentally was handball and should not have been allowed. That cancells out the penalty shout which to my mind was a 50/50 possibility. Once the equaliser came, Sunderland were the stronger team and could have gone on to win, but I guess a draw was probably the right result.

The one thing that really worries me is the lack of the midfield 4 in a 442 system to be able to pass the ball accurately. If this system is adopted when Bent returns which looks to be likely, then the striking pair will get no service and not score enough to counteract what we concede by giving the opposition too much space. They also need to learn where the goal is and help out the strikers. Defencively they are fine, but in attack a lot is left to be desired.

After all the fuss about Bale recently, I have to say he was made to look to be very ordinary last night.

Tottenham are dropping too many points from being possible contendors they are now looking more likely to be a team fighting for a European place. Tottenham's first XI are more than capable of giving any team a beating, however most teams nowadays can /do seldom play their best XI either through injuries or by mangers rotation. Spurs do need to get players fit and they do need to strengthen the team to compete at the top of the premiership. Bale is still young and he has had a few high profile performances that he duly got praised for but he has to perform more often as he has been posted missing in action in many games which has probably been noted by a few possible admirers of Bale.

Tonight we see a Manchester derby with Man U hit hard by injuries and a virus, Chelsea at home to Fulham and Arsenal away at Wolves. Chelsea have a 100% home record and you wouldnt bet against them grabbing all 3 pts, the Manchester derby could go either way tho City may have the edge as Man U have injury worries but have the experince and mentality to overcome this, Arsenal could sweep Wolves aside easily or they may forget to turn up who knows with Arsenal !

Only 4pts seperate positions 6 - 17th in the premiership !! Incredible

Morning Dougie, I do agree about the midfield 4 not contributing enough goals, but they do contribute to the number that Bent and hopefully Gyan get. We need some real creativity in the middle of the park, but I think a lot of teams could say that right now as there seems to be a dearth in the game. Steed can play the killer ball on his day and when he is fit and firing Richardson too.

I'm sure we will be on the lookout for some 'flair' in the January windown but the word on the street in Sunderland is that Nzogbia might be the man he is after

Quite right. We need a top class striker in addition to Defoe. Problem is, I can't think of an obvious candidate. The midfield? One of the best, if not the best, in the PL - all in my biased opinion of course; hence we don't need players there. Defence? I'm not too worried there either TBH. The injury list at the back is bad at the moment, but Dawson will be coming back soon. Not sure about King though.

A couple of other points.

1- I detest Howard Webb.

2- If this season has shown us anything at all it has shown us that the PL is more competitive. Spurs' woeful performances against Wigan and West Ham aside, who would have expected Arsenal to lose at home to West Brom and Newcastle. Or Chelski to lose away to Liverpool. Just kidding about the last one

Well I know that Brucie is an admirer of Nzogbia, and has already made overtures towards him in the last couple of transfer windows. He has put in some decent performances this season, but I think if he had wanted to reunite with SB he would already be at the SOL.

Richardson seems strangely out of sorts at the moment. I know he has only just come back from injury but he had a terrible game last night, always offside, gave away the ball too easily, and petty fouls meant that the whistle blew any time he did anything. Steed has probably been the most creative I agree, but he falls away too easily for my liking. We desperately need a playmaker, but they cost a lot of money for anything decent.

I should not complain though, if anyone had said that we would be 7th a quarter of the way through the season, I would have taken that - pity about the Newcastle result though, a reversal on that would have meant we were really riding high.
