Country file forecast had a couple of points of interest:

  • Big northerly plunge over NE America will cause jet stream to run north to iceland and then south over Scandinavia )I don't quite see the logic, but still...) Hence big HP cell in mid Atlantic and LP over Scandi causing northerlies here in a week or so

  • Blob of heavy snow over central N Germany

The express not wanting to be out done have gone for four months worth. The usual suspect being quoted.

I bring you the most accurate, the most celebrated, the most detailed long range weather forecaster of them all, the Siberian swan:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/weather/11926752/Britain-faces-longest-winter-in-50-years-after-earliest-ever-arrival-of-Siberian-swan.html

And there was me thinking that science had supplanted folk law and sheeps entrails in the forecasting business.

Perhaps a quote from Far from the Madden Crowd (with apologies to Thomas Hardy) and am wondering if James the Obscure may be more apt?

" It is safer to accept any chance that offers itself, and extemporize a procedure to fit it, than to get a good plan matured, and wait for a chance of using it"
