Had a couple of  flashes -  one  strike extremely close and a short period of torrential rain.  Gone quiet again now, but looks like another cell is forming  around Winchester.

Generally, it looks like the remains of the decayed storms are being rejuvenated  as the air is forced up by the downs - interesting !

Just had a high level storm scrape past Hook.

Dropped 2 lovely CG's, and some rain. Stood out in the rain, huge freezing cold drops, was just what I needed

A rather interesting outlook from Estofex for tomorrow. I don't think I have seen a "Level 2" extend to northern parts of the UK http://estofex.org

Estofex have Level 2 for Northern England, Southern Scotland and parts of the north Midlands. Level 1 for the rest of the UK.

High theta-e bubble (up to equiv. 60C in places - impressive) currently maintaining elevated level convection moving NNE across the South.
Had a few flashes here too plus some rain getting to ground level.

Yep but probably not until quite late.
The biggest issue for initiation is overcoming the cap due to the already very high surface to 900mb air temps. Having said that, any storm(s) that do fire late afternoon have the potential to become severe quite quickly. Large hail the primary risk IMO.

Best guess would be cells firing from 4pm North of the A14 and moving/developing Northwards into the evening.

Possible imports from France later in the night.

Nothing much has changed in my mind since I posted about the severe threat to N. England/Scotland yesterday morning, but I suspect the emphasis remains slightly further west, so Pennine areas and NW England (rather than areas E of Pennines) into much of the central areas of Scotland.

CF still remains sluggish on most models, with temperatures progged to get a 1 or 2 degrees higher in my neck of the woods than forecast yesterday.

Other localised storms in other areas also possible ofc. Interesting to see this morning the LP cells showing sferic returns in central areas.

The comparison I made yesterday with the June 2005 supercell outbreak still holds, but several parameters still need to come together for it to come to fruition.

That's a classic thundery trough moving into hot/humid air for late Friday.

Light thundery shower here for all of two minutes last night, but followed by some attractive-looking decaying cumulus highlighted by the full moon.

That the BBC are dismissing this another hot air on Friday and Saturday as the models showing 30C and over on both days.

Cloudy this morning with what could be some showery rain soon. As yesterdays showers formed so fast I wouldn't be surprised if we see more today.  Yesterdays surprise rainfall and attractive cumulo nimbus with a high level rainbow and evening sunshine was a bonus. No camera though.
