Some weather to discuss.
Currently no Severe Flood Warnings for Cumbria at present but that will almost definitely change later as over 120mm rain in some areas falls on an already saturated catchment.
RED level warning issued by the Met Office.
Environment Agency warnings here: https://flood-warning-information.service.gov.uk/warnings
UPDATE: As I post this several Severe Warnings have been issued for the Keswick area.
The Eden at Temple Sowerby is now at record levels. Near record at Appleby. The previous records date to Jan 2009 - when Carlise suffered severe flooding.Lune also at near record levels in the Tebay area.
The River Petteril outside Carl;isle is recording record* levels, this is the one that floods the football ground

*, a weird thing is, I've seen it on the EA site go past that record level (25/9/12) before, but it never gets set to the new mark.... ?
The E4 accumulated rainfall up to 09.00hrs Sunday has a grid point of 170mm over the Lake District.Orographic enhancement along near-stationary front. No wonder the MetO have a red out for this.

The NW desperately needs a pattern change.
It's really awful, the river Kent in Kendal is incrediby high, higher than it was in 2009. Two houses at the bottom of my road are suffering from surface water flooding as the water is coming up out of the drains. The police have closed a number of bridges, and I'm really concerned about the railway bridge across the Kent, it's taking a huge amount of force from the flood water. Worried that it might not be able to stand the strain. Can't quite comprehend we have another 18 hours of rain to come
Sorry, have no idea why these photos have come out black and white. My OH has just been called out with the Mountain rescue team to go house to house to evacuate people.

(The photos are fine and in colour for me)
The new flood defences in Keswick have been breached - not good news.
seen reports on other weather forums that the flood barries at Keswick! have been breeched

Have also just seen that the river Greta has just overtopped the new flood defences in Keswick - it's horrendous - so scary!!!
This looks bad, I mentioned similarities to 2009 the other day but this looks like it could be worse now. Severe flooding already and it's only just started. Going to be chaos by tomorrow. Stay safe.
River looking like its starting to break it's banks here - that's bad news for Cockermouth and Keswick. Will be a few hours yet before the worst of it reaches here.
Good site here to see river levels:

I suspect a few of them on the Cumbrian rivers may cease to record permanantly today!
Nowhere near as bad as up north but my parents have told me they aren't able to get off Anglesey this evening. Apparently all routes to the bridges are flooded, and it took them ages to get there (with many detours) due to floods in the first place. I didn't even think it had been raining much over there, so it looks like NW Wales might be quite badly affected too.
Incredible images from Cumbria - and incredible to think this is happening again so soon after 2009.
