Well it is without doubt the worst December ever - even worse than the last worst December ever in 2013.
I have had to cut the grass today, because it was getting out of hand - the first time I have ever had to do that in December.
And January 2016 will without doubt be the worst January ever, worse even than the January of 2014.

In 2013-14 I thought we had the worst winter imaginable, but just two years later and it is being beaten hands down!
Yuck!

After such a rotten December as the current one, I cannot see any meaningful change for the UK in the next few weeks - I am still hoping February might give us something however.

Sunny today, but just like the last two winters, the vile strong wind ensured it felt far from pleasant. Thoroughly nasty in fact and yet again the temperature is rising through the evening as the wind rattles and howls. Very mild again at 7.3C and today's low of 3.6C was the coldest for over a week. It is absolutely awful. Hideous unseasonable tripe

Looks like just a solitary air frost this month which will by far be the worst of any winter month in my records, the previous lowest total being four in December 2013. Speaks volumes about how much further into the abyss this rancid write-off season is sinking even compared to 2013/14.

Also looks like the reading of -1.9C on 8th May will make it into the top 10 coldest of the year and in 2014 only four nights were colder. Without doubt the worst pair of consecutive years for frosts on record and both pathetic for warmth as well. An utter disgrace.

Wouldn't surprise me if January and February both turn out to be even more revolting than this month as was the case two years ago

When we had the mild 'n' wild weather two winters ago, it was because of widespread cold over North America clashing with the warm Atlantic producing bombing depression systems.
Now that the eastern side of the UK is quite warm and the middle part of the Atlantic Ocean is colder than normal - and we still get to have mild 'n' wild weather due to the threat of bombing depressions here at the UK anyway.
Usually warmth over the states would mean there should be less of a contrasting effect over the Atlantic and thus high pressure is encouraged to form at this end but they are all too far to our east. Seems that it's the relatively sturdy stratospheric vortex that is putting a spanner in the works rather than the El Nino effect.

Our British climate can be so rubbish at times.

I've seen my fair share of snowfall this month already so I'm not fussed. I was out hiking when that snow event hit the NE mid-month, I saw rain turn to 4 inches of snow over the course of 4 hours, plus ended up nearly stranded at a pub when snow covered the road!

Words fail me to describe the last two months weather in Cumbria, the floods have been biblical but it's been the constant darkness that is so depressing, it's like living on the set of Blade Runner!

If this is a sign of our new climate due to GW I am considering buying myself an apartment in Lanzarote when I retire to get away from it, I suspect I will need a spare room.

Yes, although there was a chilly wind we had a lovely walk through Old Aberdeen and Seaton Park in the winter's sunshine yesterday afternoon. Fresh, dry and bright - couldn't ask for more. Yes it felt chilly but it is December in Aberdeen.

Revolting day today. Pointlessly mild with driving showery rain and a chilly wind

That said, it is forecast to brighten up this afternoon with colder conditions moving in. I'm driving up to my parents in Dronfield later, so hoping there might be a wintry shower or two in store during the evening as the cold sets in

We are slap bang in the middle of the amber warning for Boxing day. After all the flooding already this month, SO looking forward to more rain...
Had trouble getting into work this morning due to more flooding on the back roads (that are only being used because Eamont Bridge has been condemned due to the floods on the 6th) as the water literally has nowhere left to go.
It is just ridiculous and horrendous. People have just given up cleaning up after the floods because they know it's going to happen again in the next few days.
Today it is grey and still raining. There's a surprise....

Horrendous stuff here this morning though it's clearing now, some phenomenal amounts of rain to come over the next few weeks, i think what most people are thinking of now is if we can record the mildest winter ever. It will surely only need a general Atlantic pattern to achieve it.

From December 27th 2020, zonality will be banned from mixing with the UK. We appreciate that this may come as a shock to younger people and old Uncle Barty. This ban will last for a minimum of ten days.

But yes it is horrendous, I am still mourning the loss of Pooley Bridge and how long till will lose Eamont Bridge and many other lovely old bridges due to the floods?

The worse thing is I bet they replace these bridges with steel monstrosities like at Langwathby which was built as a 'temporary' bridge in 1969!

Will someone tell the Government the North doesn't need a bloody train it needs improvements and now repairs to its road infrastructure.
