4/10 for me
At one stage, on the eve of the forecasted colder spell, it looked like we could be in for 7-10 days of winter, but it didn’t turn out like that.
We only got 2 air frosts – and one of those nights the temp began to rise soon after midnight and was above zero by dawn.
The saving grace was the snow – but even that was a frustration. After being forecast to be within the ideal area, the snowier zone got shunted eastwards. The result was that, although snow was falling for much of Saturday and the temp hovered around 0.2c to 0.5c, we only got a thin, slushy covering as every time the snow rate increased, it’d quickly die back or even turn to sleet. It was only from around 6pm onwards, when the bulk of the front had moved southwards, did colder air wrap around the PPN band & proper snow began to fall. We ended with about 2cm on all surfaces – enough to build a couple of modest snowmen & get the sledges out for. Unfortunately, a slow thaw set in mid-morning & by nightfall Sunday, most of the snow had melted.
Still, snow is snow.
