We had 4cm in the end. Unfortunately a lot has melted and just left with patches on the grass. 3.3c

Looks like the 'event' was further north of here. Squally snow showers in Grenoside today but no accumulation to speak of.

A couple of opportunities for lying snow in the south in the next few days.

Now it's spring we got the heaviest and most prolonged snowfall since last April with around 4 or 5cm accumulating in a few hours.

How disappointing that after a wintry morning showers turned to rain this afternoon and temperature rose to nearly 6c, barely counts as a cold day.

My wife's triumphant fanfare of 'sleety rain turned to slower-falling snow' nearby was met with a scowl, growl and frown so foul, as at 2pm (the alleged time of this heinous crime) I was busily doing something inside an enclosed space.

From experience the system is not coming into cold enough air to start as snow, except over the highest parts such as the Penninies down to Buxton, I think for many, certainly at lower levels its the wrong side of marginal.

From December 27th 2020, zonality will be banned from mixing with the UK. We appreciate that this may come as a shock to younger people and old Uncle Barty. This ban will last for a minimum of ten days.

I'm just shy of 100m in Leeds, so not expecting anything major tonight/tomorrow. Wrong side of marginal I fear

We will nee a miracle for this to turn into any snow event. Sure the hills behind Manchester and over Northwales will no doubt get battered. But for us other folk - this will be cold rain.

Hopefully the snow warnings will be updated. Imo, they need to reduce the area covered and increase the emphasis on lower ground below 200m in those lucky areas.

Not taking any notice of the forecasts as they're completely useless in these scenarios. Like the snowfalls in mid-January, and yesterday, and mid November last year, I'll just wait.. and hopefully the Met Office's conservative forecasts of high ground only snow will be proven incorrect once again. 🙂 I've honestly lost count of the number of times snow was only meant to settle on high ground only for us to get 1-5cm.

Although saying that, the BBC do show heavy snow here tomorrow morning and 11pm tonight..  That is usually the kiss of death.
