I think it's a bit silly that we still have a winter moaning thread going when we are halfway through the first 3rd of spring.

Its been a fine few days for the bulk of the UK and for some temperatures have been very pleasant with parts Scotland today possibly getting as high as 18C ☀️

For me I've enjoyed temps just shy of 14C (much warmer in garden) today whilst preparing the garden for a new seasons of crops.

But out for a walk on the top of the Downs yesterday, despite wall-to-wall sunshine, it still felt very much like winter with temp at 7C and a force 5 or 6 wind, or in wind chill terms about 2C. Invigorating, but not one to stand around in.

Great to have such dry weather this month. Contractors cut the lawns today. Plenty of stars at night. Suits me fine.

It only feels like spring for a few hours from late morning to around 5pm,the rest of the time its bloody freezing, almost every night there has been a frost this month.

March in book is  winter with daylight, the cet record bears this out. Spring will be late this year, nature does not follow dates on a calendar!!

Had a couple of nice days yesterday and sunday was only 10c max and felt perhaps like borderline Spring. Sun is still weak though and the ground is too wet to mow. Still very early in the year where snow is much more likely than significant warmth. Daffodils coming into flower in the garden, although it is shaded so they are a bit behind. Nothing else really breaking the winter feeling. Spring starts in another couple of weeks for me.

Yet another putrid, grey cold and unpleasant day. This nasty spell of weather is one of the worst I have experienced in March along with 1996, 2005 and 2013. 5 out of 7 days now with under 1 hour sun and tomorrow looks like making it 6 out of 8

Technically speaking it's not sunburn but my arms & face have nice glowing feeling to them this evening, that kind of feeling one has after spending time in the sun 🌞 perhaps that's my Vit D being produced.

However, since it is only March, I am being a bit forgiving about this at the moment, I may be somewhat less so if it stays this chilly in May - like it did in 2013 (but then again, the SST was unusually low at that time with a persistent cold pool at the Strait of Dover, this time it's slightly above normal as far as I know).

On an unrelated note; perhaps I may be setting myself up for a downfall in here as I like to think that I do get on well with everyone in here, but I cannot hold it back any longer . . . Lazy Wind, your postings has been getting a bit tiresome to read lately. Even has the effect of making Richardabdn seem more affable in nature. Some beautiful sunshine earlier today. The ENEly somewhat tempered by our location made it feel pleasant enough. Clouded over this evening mind.

Anyway, I'm going off on a tangent. Again.

In fact, more than a fortnight of that July was dedicated to north easterly winds. Just the beginning and ending part of that month saw to default south westerly winds, along with fairly average type conditions but did manage a brief heatwave in the first couple of days of August but the rest of that month went along on an average note. Having said all that, we have had worse summers but we have had more superior ones at this end.

Even if our wind came in from the SE in the summer, it doesn't always bring el-scorchio type conditions, it needs to have a long fetch all the way in from Africa or something like that.

It just shows how High Pressure of 1030mb can deliver such bad weather here in the NE. Yesterday's max of 6 C with haar and drizzle will be repeated today and perhaps over the next 2 days!
Winds from the NE or E are no good here, unless they deliver copious snow showers!
Meanwhile western coasts of Scotland have 16 C and sunshine.

Gorgeous spring morning here, sun shining, clear sky apart from a slight mist on the Horizon and a slight nip in the air.

28C or higher was achieved for 19 consecutive days in that July, and temperatures breached the  30C threshold (33C) on a few days too. This all official by the way.

June wasn't to bad a month, but August though starting hot (34C) was quite average in the end.
