Temperatures so far suggest a max around 32-33 somewhere. Nothing like as rapid heating as 1 July last year when we were getting to high 20s by 9am, but respectable nonetheless.

I'm viewing this all from Madrid where the temperature is expected to nudge 41 today, hottest day of the year so far.

Did an update on my blog this morning, looking at the prospects for today, tonight a tomorrow, regarding high heat and thundetstorms:

https://scottsweatherblog.wordpress.com/2016/07/19/scorchio-then-bang/

At the moment, it's a tremendous summer's morning. 9AM and it's spectacularly sunny and the temperature is already just over 25C. Need more days like this please! 😃

Overnight low of 17.9C, currently 24.6C. Yesterday I got burn't more than in my entire life. I had to wrap a t-shirt around my head as my forehead area felt so bad like it as going to blister. I've never had that before. We still have UV8 here and forecast again for today.

Here it's actually 2c warmer than the same time on July 1st 2015 when we reached a high of 30.7c. Dont expect that to be beaten but promising none the less.

Yesterday even the tiny island of Tresco where the capital of the Scilly Isles is located recorded 21C with an overnight low of 14C. That daytime high is remarkable for such a tiny landmass out in the Atlantic 25 miles off the Cornish mainland. You have to have some super circumstances to heat up a place like that. Never gets cold there though.

Didn't get any lower than 19.8 C at 5.30 am at this end. I'm not sure if that was actually the case or it was from heat still radiating from a brick wall or from the surface. Nonetheless it was stifling last night were I slept on top of the bed but with a toe or kneecap still covered for that bit of reassurance.

It got to 24.1 C here yesterday and the overnight low was 13.4 C. It was 19.4 C this morning at around 8.30. Would hope that it might reach 25 C today, though it's hard to predict as we're liable to pick up a sea breeze later in the morning on hot days such as this. Met Eireann is forecasting temperatures of up to 29 C in our midlands today, which is nearly as hot as it ever gets over here(30 C is almost unheard of in Ireland).

Just checked my local metoffice forecast and it has 28C with e/se winds - these are nearly always a couple degrees off the mark. I'm thinking if we can keep more of a local easterly rather then southeast then 30C is very much on the cards. We haven't had temps in the 30's for nearly 2 years now.

Going to head down to the harbour and catch some breeze. I like watching the boats come in and go out, its a busy harbour. Many different kinds from tiny boats to yachts. Damn I'm getting old. "Do you like watching the boats?", "yep" lol. Currently 25.2C and I can't wait to crack open a beer and sit in the sea breeze watching the boats.

27.4C here with a dewpoint of 16.5C.

Just walked to ASDA to pick up some bread and cold meats/pickles for tea tonight. A decent hour-long round trip and it feels wonderfully hot out there!

29.2C here now after over night low of 14.8C.  Very interesting to see how warm tonight as my record warmest min is 22C in August 2004.  I kept play back on the BBC online forecast as I never see them forecasting 23C in London to Leeds, that would give many station new minimum breaking records.

It amazing that we will see 23C tonight let alone in the first half of the summer was very hard to reach a average 23C day time max.

I'm keeping an eye on the LHR dew points once the wind turns southerly which it should do later today. Current DP 17C which is pretty high, will it rumble like yesterday?
