To repeat a number of previous posts: The charts posted and often labelled JFF (Just for fun or Just for frustration) are generated ppn type based on raw modelled parameters. They have had let's say a 'chequered' history and their performance should be taken with a big pinch of salt.

I would look as them as a very rough guide and when the time comes (within 48 hours), use the E4 and WRF ppn models as they are high resolution and get a much better handle on events.

I see there are already snow warnings out for Wednesday and Thursday in N and NWern parts of the UK in association with the cold cyclonic NWly expected at that time period.

http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings/#?tab=map&map=Warnings&zoom=5&lon=-3.50&lat=55.50&fcTime=1422144000

Some NWern parts should do very well. Here? It will be dry, bright and breezy as has been the case for much of the last few weeks. Some eastern parts may do a little better beyond then but that is still a long way off

“Such is the severity of this situation I have written to the Government’s Cabinet Office Briefing Room (COBRA) committee urging them to take immediate action.”

That's OK then. For a moment I didn't think PC was taking this seriously enough

As big a pile of steaming horse manure as I have come to expect of this excuse for a publication.

I did think "sack of something" with 4 letters beginning with 's' and ending in 'h' but it wasn't salt.

It is?

The northerly flow of Arctic winds and cold air streams, which are expected at this time of the season, would follow a very mild and wet start to the year.

Weird term there - cold air streams. I know what an airstream is, but an air stream. Is that like a river without water?

I do wish these publications would seek some editorial input before issuing these articles.

I am not sure why there is surprise over the lack of specifics , snow is hard to predict 24-48 hours out let alone 120
